I know people have been talking about a Frank Black live album but I think a B-Sides album would be a much better idea. I know there is oddballs but its only got a few of the b-sides on it doesn't even have Amnesia (which I cant find anywhere) and unless your American its quite an effort to get hold of. So I reckon they should put out a comprehensive B-Sides album from the first album up to the Dits B-sides. Anybody with me?

That would be great but I'd rather see all deluxe re-issues with bonus discs of b-sides and demos and live tracks, and liner notes by Black-just like all the Costello albums that have been coming out on Rhino.

I agree on a comprehensive b-sides album, that would be great. You could make it chronological with liner notes and everything.

However, i'm not a big fan of re-issued albums with b-sides and bonus track tacked on. How many times have I bought an album, and then 3 years later this deluxe super edition b-side double disc version of it comes out. I mean, there are a few albums where I would re-buy it, but most of the time I just get upset. Sometimes I can't even figure out how much I like an album because I'm not sure what songs are b-sides and what songs were originally on it. It's great if you don't have the original album, but if you do you get ripped off. I think when Rhino and companies like that release super editions, they should also release discs with just the compiled b-sides on the side, so fans don't have to re-buy all 10 albums to get the collected bonus tracks.

thinking logically, chances are once all the FB catalogue reverts back to 4ad (which isn't too far away) there might well be a B-sides and rarities album, or Best Of (I never see the point of a Best Of as such when there's only the two albums)... you're more likely to see something like that than one which involves licensing in tracks from his other labels...

I could be completely wrong of course, but that's what seems logical to me..

Sounds good. Best Of's generally aren't a good thing really as what I consider best and what everyone else does are different, and with someone like Frank only a lot of promo would help it do anything but then that could be an idea.

Uh...isn't his backlog owned by other labels (spinart etc) and in a few monthes it'll go back to being owned by 4ad like the pixies stuff. I don't know why its reverting but thats the general gist of it I think.

I'm guessing she means only the first two albums.
