doolittle ranks 77 on the top 100 albums of all time. not too bad, though it was beat by a mariah carey and metallica album. The list isnt too bad though, no big surprises. for some reason Maladroit is 91. now i mean its good and all but the 91 best record of all time? oh well

i think that it's been a long time since RS magazine was a serious publication. not that i trust on those lists, but i think they can be fun sometimes, but mariah carey? come on... |

I was most upset that Pet Sounds is #20...What the hell, that album belongs at the very least in the top 10. No way is Pinkerton even close to being better than Pet Sounds. Oh well, at least the Beatles won, proving that there are at least a few people with decent taste. #20!?!? |

i was never a huge beach boys fan really, but yah it definitly should have been higher. come on two eminem albums on there? perhaps the old one eventhough ive never heard it. The only problem with that list is that there are a lot of current acts on there, and cds who havent really stood the test of time per se. like linkin park (in 20 years well all be raving about it).

It had to be a fan poll. Does anyone know for sure? No way a new CD like Malidroit makes it without a Weezer.net bombing. Though I do like Malidroit and Pinkerton does rock. Didn't RS hate Pinkerton when it came out?

It's always a bad idea to take these lists seriously. They'll be the same way forever, it's impossible to decide the greatest albums of all time when new ones come out every week. |

There are so many factors to judge by, too. For example, quality-wise, no way is Nevermind the second greatest album of all time. It's one of my lesser favorites, and honestly I think In Utero blows it out of the water. But if you judge by the impact it had on the industry/music in general/the world/pop culture/your best friend's clothing, then it definitely ranks up there. Some of the albums were pretty unsucessful upon first release (i wonder if Rolling Stone remembers calling Pinkerton the worst album of 1996...Pet Sounds wasn't as highly acclaimed when it came out as it is now). |

By the way, and kinda off-topic... The French edition of Rolling Stone came out yesterday. It's a monthly edition over here. Nothing really interesting in it, though they do review Frank's albums and while they only give them 2 stars 1/2, the review isn't bad. To sum up, they begin to admit that they should probably try to forget about the Pixies when listening to Frank's solo stuff and take the albums for what they are. I'll try to translate the review when I have time.
