Posted - 09/07/2004 : 06:54:32 I just got a G-mail account. I *heart* Google. Does anyone else have one? I like it so far, lots of free space, etc.
Anyway, I am getting invites to send to people now so if anyone wants an account, email me or post your email here and I will send you an invite. It's still in the beta testing phases, so you can't just sign up.
Cheers!

I don't like the grouping of emails, but maybe I will get used to it eventually.
Oh and the whole scanning topics thing is weird. I was cooking myself a couple of eggs one day and one of the eggs was round. Not oval. Round. Of course, I took a pic of the round egg next to an oval egg and sent it to kfs (strange, I know). I had all these different links about eggs popping up.
It's not you I don't like
Even wierder, I got an email from someone that mentioned losing weight, and the link that popped up was for some stripper pole camp. They teach you how to work the stripper pole, and it turns out it's a great workout and you can lose weight doing it! Google should really scan these ads for appropriateness before they run them
I thought it was funny, but I can imagine that if it were my daughter getting the ad, I wouldn't be too amused.

Posted - 06/18/2007 : 04:52:28 Jefrey - I was aware of the picture feature. Gmail is the best email I've used by far. I've ditched Thunderbird in favor of Gmail. |

Posted - 06/17/2007 : 23:03:16 Did you know you can have a picture so when you hover over a name, an avatar-like thing comes up? I never knew till a friend of mine had the unabomber and it popped up when I hovered over his name. I almost jumped out of my seat! I asked him about it and he said he wanted to put something the opposite of all the cutesey things people put as their avatars. I made mine Chris Pronger so I could out-evil him.
Anyway, it's really freaking annoying to have attachments bounce, or someone tell you their crappy freemail program can't accept attachments over 2MB or some crap. Gmail is free and eliminates almost all the problems of other freemail accounts.
Also, I have actually bought stuff from 4 or 5 of the adwords links that have popped up from scanning my emails. So I've found it to actually be a pretty good "feature" for discovering new stuff online.

Posted - 06/17/2007 : 03:29:24 I recently got a gmail account and I like it very much. I enjoy looking up and seeing my contacts' green dots...like they're just waiting to hear from me.

Posted - 11/17/2006 : 12:14:21 I like Gmail. It's great, especially considering it's free. Hotmail is unbeliveably shit. Incredibly limited storage and tons on spam. I've been getting a lot of spam with Gmail lately- but not in my inbox (apart from two the other day!)!

Posted - 11/17/2006 : 06:30:58 I use yahoo too, Benji, but only as my email address for people/companies I'd rather not have my other address. I rarely check it since it's up to the hilt with spam.

If you guys are so excited about your email security, why don't you get all excited to pass laws to protect our email with a similar status to traditional mail? The problem is not Google doing what they do (information mining), the problem is that our modern-age communications do not share the same legal privacy protections as our "real lives" do (or should). |

Posted - 11/16/2006 : 22:30:42 yeah, i'm a big fan of gmail. still have a yahoo address too, but only because i've had it for years and years. gmail is definitely the way to go.....

Posted - 11/16/2006 : 20:46:21 So, it's two years on now. How's everybody like their Gmail? I like mine, though I've had mine a year and I'm still not sold on the "conversation"-style grouping of e-mails. My favorite thing is that I'm pretty certain I'll have this address for at least the next decade. I can't see Google going out of business any time soon.

I tried, I swear! <cries quietly in the corner> |
