I just got a G-mail account. I *heart* Google. Does anyone else have one? I like it so far, lots of free space, etc.
Anyway, I am getting invites to send to people now so if anyone wants an account, email me or post your email here and I will send you an invite. It's still in the beta testing phases, so you can't just sign up.

It seems we've reached the critical mass, whereby the number of invites outweighs the number of people who actually want an account..hehe.. I'm seeing postings like this all over. =P

i've got a gmail account, but i've hardly used it.
don't like the way they group the messages - guess it's just something you have to get used too.
and since yahoo increased their storage to 100MB, i'm just using my regular one.

I have seen postings all over but I have also had a bunch of people rabidly email me saying they want an invite. So...?

Everyone I've invited hasn't signed up, either they have it, they don't want to change, etc.
It's the new way to organize emails.
Mostly, I like that it's threaded. The search thing I could just as easily replace with/augment with folders.

I think it will take me some time to get use to the labels and everything but I love that you don't really need to delete anything. Also, I still have my Yahoo and work emails so I don't need to fear change too much.

I think they scan the subject lines. Also my address has something to do with diamonds (related to my bloggity blog) and so I am now getting many ads for diamond sites showing up on the sides. Places I will never visit, but ads that kinda crack me up.

They actually scan the entire email. Allegedly not viewing it just looking for keywords to place ads, but some people find that cause for concern anyway.

I thought it was'nt up and running yet-a while ago I gave my email address to Gmail in order to stay informed as to when I can get a Gmail account. Is the service active now? It dos'nt sound so great if they can scan your mail.

| ugh, there was/is this whole thing about how gmail look at all your emails and are evil etc.... it's the same with all email companies... like hotmail. you know if you send unpatented information through hotmail it becomes microsoft's property. it's in the ToS. |

Do you have to be invited by an actual person, though? I remember I used to see links to sign up for it whenever I signed on to Blogger. I never clicked on them, though.

| not really. it's in its beta stage. i find it quite a cool way to conduct beta testing. slowly more people get access to it as time goes by... presumably also as it becomes more stable and user friendly, and able to cope with a larger audience. |
