Posted - 08/09/2004 : 12:21:13 I've been quite fortunate in my current employment that a significant proportion of the rest of the office have reasonably discerning taste. Apart from the odd lapse resulting in Shed Seven, we get a fair smattering of Morrisey, Pixies, REM, Rolling Stones, which let's face it, could be a lot worse. Now, having moved offices I have some control over what goes on the stereo, so we've had Jeff Buckley, Nick Cave, James Brown and Nick Drake among others. One has to be reasonably considerate. While the odd bout of cool can burst through (we've been known to have Mono, Mogwai and Sun Ra on), its only fair to let others have some say so I don't put anything too extreme. So the question goes out: what do you listen to at work?

What Dylan was it?
lovesick (song, not album). a more sinister tune has never been recorded.
i hate anyone who doesn't like me.
Well, there IS this part at the end:
Just don't know what to do I'd give anything to Be with you
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

I get accused of whale music, that's my favourite.

Sigur Ros right? I've had a friend say the same to me.
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place
Spot on.

Posted - 05/17/2007 : 03:06:42 sheesh Dayanara what a coworker - particularly odd considering the garbage Dylan started turning out in the late seventies when he used to harangue his audiences in between songs about how useful Jesus was.

Posted - 05/17/2007 : 01:46:47 I consider myself very lucky to be able to listen to music at work. I've imported quite a big and random mp3 collection into my work PC, ranging from really outlandish avant-jazz to singer-songwriters and 60's easy listening. It's almost constantly playing, most of the time on "shuffle".
For the last year or so, I've been on a John Zorn kick, and I must say my colleagues are being really graceful about it, not wincing visibly when a frantic Naked City piece comes on. The only sign they ever gave was the one guy saying in a tired voice, on hearing a delicate and elegant Masada String Trio number, "THAT ONE is nice." Heh.
Dayanara, that's the weirdest reaction to Dylan I've ever heard of. I like my coworkers better :)

Posted - 05/16/2007 : 16:51:54 i had some dylan on the other night and my 40 year old moral majority soccer mom coworker made me turn it off because "it sounds like cult music. like people chanting to satan or something. don't you hear it in that melody? it's hurting my head."

Posted - 08/12/2004 : 10:42:47 I don't listen to them anymore, but I still recognise that The Stones Roses were an excellent band. Taking their music alone, they wrote some great pop songs.
