What's wrong with them???!!!
I went out on Saturday night,
its been a long time but what the hell?
I heard Billie-Jean at 3 different places,
not to mention a plethora of other '80s crap.
They choose the cheesiest stuff from the era.
(This is on our Whyte ave too which is not supposed to be like that
but now its ruined, ruined I tell you).
I don't even know where to go out anymore.
And the duds people are wearing....
It makes me feel old, and alot of that crap wasnt' cool the first time around...
Would I be cool if I broke out my neon pink "Choose Life" shirt and matching banana clip??? |

Now I do as I please and lie through my teeth. Someone might get hurt but it won't be me. I should probably feel cheap but I just feel free and a little bit empty. No it isn't so hard to get close to me. There will be no arguments. We will always agree. And I will try and be kind when I ask you to leave. We will both take it easy. But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me. |

Haha I used to live with a girl from Madrid who used to leave the most poisonous notes on the livingroom table about say she found a dirty coffeecup in the sink and they would always be signed off with a big cheery Besos (kisses) which seemed at best transparently placative, at worst schizophrenic.

In my experience i have met approx. 4 girls with brilliant taste in music...most of my friends tastes are ok, but a lot left to be desired. Where as i get on with guys tastes more (or they like better music, or just the fact that i dislike girls generally, there fore not talking too many about music...hmm....)

I can't believe what I'm reading in this thread, expecially coming from Pixies and Frank Black fans. Popular culture trends always sucked and will always suck. Isn't that a point we all realize since we listen to indie music? Think about it, was there anytime that you thought the crap coming out of pop culture was anything other than complete garbage? Being revolted by it has nothing to do with getting older, it has to do with being intelligent.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Mike isnt really back....
And in all fairness, he was right. Girls taste in music generally sucks. I cant say I really know any girls who have a particulary brilliant taste....or no where near as cool as the guys tastes i know.

A couple of my friends are djs around san luis obispo. I go to my friends 80's night and it's all the crap I couldn't stand back in the 80's. All the hair band shit. He came over to my house and I was playing the cure, the smiths, Pil etc and he was blown away. The thing is, if he started playing that stuff people would just look on in confusion.
