OK, so I would like all you FB forum members to tell me about your biggest fears.

Two things are forbidden in this thread :
1) Quoting "I've been tired"
2) Telling really terrifying stories - n'est-ce pas, apl4eris? (I happen to sleep alone these days, and I'm a very scary and paranoid person)

Let me tell you mine. Apart from the usual male castration stuff (which, I must admit, works pretty well for me), I'm afraid of vampires :

I've never understood people who are afraid of werewolves. It's so ridiculous!

Has anyone else ever been afraid of being possessed by the Devil. Not "The Exorcist" possessed. I'm talking about "Amityville II:The Possessed" possessed. I was really worried some nights lying in bed. I was waiting, like I expected it.
I've seen that movie recently and I was surprised how scary it still is. Sure there's a lot of bad acting, dialogue; I still think that parts of it are really shocking.

being slowly tortured to death, a big one.

standard poodles, especially black ones, make me nervous.

I was going to say wasps, but it sounds a little tame now.

Anyway, wasps. Bees also, but at least they don't hunt you down and aim for you. Wasps blatantly do.

There are ferrules on paintbrushes too, only know that from being an artist. And shoelaces (the tips).

FBnet should declare May 11th to be from this day hence "Ferrule Day",
in honor of Mariggy and Drugged Bunny, and the Pointy Bits Treaty of Dictionary!

Oh,really? I cannot find the word of 'pointy bit' in my Japanese-English and English-Japanese dictionaries!! I wonder my dictionaries were published in the period of William‡T. I stay this club for now.

I hope you didn't read that as sarcasm, Mariggy -- I wasn't joking or making fun of your English! I have learned obscure new words before, just because people whose native language is not English have used them unknowingly. I didn't know what a 'ferrule' was until I looked it up just now: apparently it's a ring of metal used to strengthen a shaft, or join one shaft or pipe to another -- I didn't know that before.

In fact, I just found this page below, listing extremely rare and obscure English words, and the use of 'ferrule' to describe the pointy bit of an umbrella is listed there!

http://www.islandnet.com/~egbird/dict/f.htm

Most people would just call it the pointy bit because they don't know what it's really called... :)

There is eye-penetration in the version I saw. I've seen the one on the Anchor Bay DVD.

I don't know anything about the various cuts floating around. There's a new Zombie DVD out there released under its Italian title, Zombi 2 (a title that was meant to fool Italians into thinking it was a sequel to Dawn of the Dead, which was called Zombi in Italy). I don't know what's different about that one.

It's not a very hardcore movie, but there's cool stuff in it. I enjoy it.

I'm scared shitless of cannibals.

Also, whenever I use a pay phone in the city, which used to be all the time before I finally got a cell phone, I'm afraid of checking for change in the coin return slot. For some reason, I'm convinved that some shit fuck has put a sharp pin in there that has been dipped in AIDS. I'm afraid that by checking for my quarter I'll be infected with HIV.

Another- I used to have an apartment on the fifteenth floor of a building downtown. The window were six foot high and looked right out on an incredible view of the east river and the brooklyn bridge, which was two blocks away. This was a little after 9-11 and I started having intense, realistic nightmares of looking out my window in the morning at the river, seeing the dazzeling early morning sun dance off the river as the Q train crosses the manhatten, when suddening a nuclear bomb detonates on the Brooklyn bridge. Then I wake up. Very Sara Connor, I know. But as bad as that was, i'm still more frightened of cannibals.

warm....warmer.....disco!

I don't remember what movie she was reviewing, but Pauline Kael wrote about how one of the most effective scare/shock tactics in movies is to attack/gouge/stab/violate someone's eyes. I guess it's because obviously your eyes are what's engaged the most when you're watching a film.

Pixies fans will know about Un Chein Andalou already, but I think my favorite movie eye-mutilation is the 'splinter scene' from the old Italian horror flick, Zombie.

In that case, my biggest fear is being given a brand new Gibson Les Paul and a lifetime supply of Arizona Ice Tea.
But wait... is the killing a seperate part of making people go through their fears, Adnan? You know, since not all fears involve death. If I'm gonna die after going through my biggest fears, then my biggest fear is having a threesome with Liz Phair circa 1992 and Winona Ryder circa 1994.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 Spoilers contained within

I'm a bit sensitive about my eyes. Whenever I see barbed wire, I always get this feeling in my eyes like they're impaled on the wire. I have trouble looking at it. However, in Kill Bill, I thought it was hilariously over-the-top when Beatrix yanked out Elle's eye and then squished it under her toes. By the third time I saw the film, I found the scene ridiculous, and laughed hysterically. My friend sitting next to me said that the young girls sitting in front of us reacted repulsed by the scene and he said that when they heard me laughing, they turned around with an aghast look on their face, horrified that I was so amused by the scene. I wish I could have seen their faces, but when watching a Tarantino film, even after seeing it multiple times, I have trouble taking my eyes of the screen since the images are so awesome.

I like how the screen was completely black for over a minute in that scene, with the dirt falling on the coffin and Uma's heavy breathing being the only sounds we hear.
