OK, so I would like all you FB forum members to tell me about your biggest fears.
Two things are forbidden in this thread : 1) Quoting "I've been tired" 2) Telling really terrifying stories - n'est-ce pas, apl4eris? (I happen to sleep alone these days, and I'm a very scary and paranoid person)
Let me tell you mine. Apart from the usual male castration stuff (which, I must admit, works pretty well for me), I'm afraid of vampires :
I've never understood people who are afraid of werewolves. It's so ridiculous!

Erm yeah Adnan, and being afraid of Vampires isn't ridiculous!?!?!?
I am scared of sharks and BIG spiders!!! Pretty standard fears really. Not too keen on heights either, if I don't feel secure.

Hey, my mum is terrified of were wolves!
Im not really scared of anything but I have a dislike to water. more sea and swimming pools.
never used to, I used to be the greatest swimmer.
Oh that and ear wigs. Why are they there!?!? what do they do!?! Someone must know!
Other than that, I guess my biggest fear is letting people too close, and people 'knowing' me.
Ill stop now, bit too deep for this thread. lol
I love you for what I am not, I did not ask for what I have got.
You will get used to me. Welcome to your new joy. |

I still swim in the ocean, but I'm afraid of sharks.
All snakes, I've seen some in the woods and by the river and my heart stops. Ever since I was a kid I've never touched a picture of one in a book or magazine. A couple years ago I was flipping through a Life magazine, I turned a page and there was a full-page photo of a boa perched on a tree branch and the instant I saw it I had a mini-panic attack and my ears started ringing and I felt dizzy ( I don't have panic attacks ). |

I'm a bit like that with pictures of sharks. If I am looking through a book and I see a picture of a shark (usually great whites) with it's mouth open, I have to slam the book shut!!! I find that image quite terrifying. I am really fascinated by sharks though, and have such a picture with me at work, so as to try and get used to them.

When I was a kid I used to be too scared to touch pictures of insects. Real insects were fine. Also, pictures of really deepgreen ocean, tho actual really deepgreen ocean was always okay with me too.

I'm afraid of sharp tips. For example, sharp pencils , sewing (knitting) needle, and ferrules of umbrella ,etc. As soon as I discover a man who uses them, I run away from him. 'Cause I scare that he will stab me in the eyeballs. I know that it's just my delusion, but I really fear sharp tips. I love 'round'.

Ferrules - so that's what they're called. Back home my native Englishspeakers just used to call them 'pointy bits'. Perhaps you could reupdate your signature

I'm afraid of silence... complete silence...I can't fall asleep unless there is that TV or Stereo on. If there's silence...then that gives my mind the chance to go wild...and that is not a good thing. the only way I can fall asleep without noise is if I'm good and plastered. Maybe that's why I drink so much. |

I didn't know the pointy bits on umbrellas were called 'ferrules' either. It's amazing the stuff you can learn from non-native English speakers!

I'm the same way, I have to have some kind of noise to get to sleep. My biggest fear is probably aliens, just seeing a picture of a gray starts me to freaking out all sorts of ways. Those eyes, that tiny noise and mouth, the huge head. Those things just scare the living shit out of me.

one of my biggest fears is accidentally running over a toddler in my car, and having to live with the guilt for the rest of my life. yes, i know, it's a pleasant thought.
also, being eaten by a shark. sure, some would say it's an irrational fear.. and i know all the statistics how how likely it is to happen. but i'm still scared of that (only when i'm in the ocean that is). i think being eaten alive by a large fish with razor sharp teeth would be undesirable.
i'm not fond of snakes either. |

Not as horrible as being, say, impaled and suffering for 12 hours before you pass away. You feel that large stick going through your body...

yeah, but i imagine your body would just shut off the pain.. your adreneline would be pumping, and you'd probably go into shock and/or delerium, which isn't so bad.
being eaten by a shark is worse because there's the psychological factor of not knowing when it's going to strike (again. it won't kill you with the first bite).. and just the psychological horror of being physically eaten by something else. i'd much rather opt for impalement. |

There's something epic and poetic about being eaten by a shark. Impalement is humiliating.
I used to surf when I was at high-school, and I was never afraid of sharks. Each time I was thinking about them, I used to sing "Wave of mutilation".

Being burned alive is one of my biggest fears. I've always wondered how long it would take before that would kill you. I'm sure it wouldn't be very pleasant.
