also, it wouldn't be the same as waiting for the oven to preheat
I think that would ruin it for me
What do you think of it exactly?

Posted - 12/08/2004 : 02:16:16 I had a decent frozen pizza last night, I got it on a 2 for 1 deal. I was pretty impressed, maybe the onion was a little obtrusive though. Unfortunately, I had to ditch the box to fit the extra pizza into the freezer and I can't remember the brand.

Posted - 12/07/2004 : 22:32:09 tonight i tried DiGiorno's Thin Crispy Crust pizza. anyone had this one?
as an aficionado and harsh critic of frozen pizza, i'm happy to say i was impressed.
i'm really more of a thin crust person anyway, so this was right up my alley; 'rising crust' is for amateurs.
my only complaint was that it was way too salty. but, overall, i think we're headed in the right direction. as a community and as an art form.
not only did it cook perfectly, but it was only a 14-16 minute baking time.

anyone try this?

Posted - 11/04/2004 : 10:01:28 Agent Johnny, thanks for the report. judging by your reaction, it sounds like you weren't completely sold on the Mystic Pizzas (despite getting an additional 1 ounce more for just 1 more cent). i have to admit, i don't think i've ever tried Tony's pizza, which seems to be a favorite here. do you ever put additional custom toppings on your frozen pizza? or just always eat it straight?
anyway, great work.

Posted - 11/04/2004 : 06:27:26 Operation: TFCP (Tasty Frozen Cheese Pizza) Well, the Mystic Pizzas were indeed on sale (but only $0.29 off), so they were 1 cent more than Tony's. I went for it anyway cause you get almost an ounce more of frozen pizza on the Mystics. The 10 minute baking time was nice. The crust was solid: just chewy enough, but still crisp. It was made with Real cheese, but I have to say it seemed really buttery. I think I was hoping for a more pungent cheese flavor. All in all, it was a good frozen pizza. 8 outta 10. I bet their toppings pizzas are better. -Agent Johnny |

Posted - 04/12/2004 : 11:24:54 judging form this poll, it seems like DiGiorno's is the most preferred frozen pizza. with Freschetta and Totinos close behind.
i'm curious to try some of these other brands though. thanks for the suggestions.
by the way, cruton, how was your pizza? i hope you enjoyed it.

Posted - 04/11/2004 : 19:15:32 Tony's are good, so are Celeste. The best ones used to be "little charlie's pizza's". They were pretty small and I used to eat those literally every day, but I haven't seen them for about 8 years now, so I assume they're gone. |

Posted - 04/11/2004 : 13:38:10 Luckily I don't live on an island myself, but I do live in Wisconsin, USA. If you are not familiar with the area, the state is famous for cheese, sausage, and beer. Some people here are so big they actually have a gravitational pull. When my wife goes shopping for pants, she has a hard time finding anything less than size 16. I don't know much about women's clothing (honest) -- but I think that's pretty big.

Posted - 04/11/2004 : 12:57:26 I think it is important to note the fact that frozen pizza and "real pizza" are not actually in the same food category. I enjoy all types of pizza, from the gourmet chicken-pesto variety to the Chicago deep dish. I also partake in the frozen-ass TOTINO'S "party pizza." We used to call it cardboard pizza. Can you compare these two types of food, other than their general appearance and physical structure? Not really.
So for frozen pizza, make it Totino's. Why? Because it tastes nothing like real pizza, and that's why it's good. If you want something that tastes like real pizza, get some real pizza.

Posted - 04/11/2004 : 10:48:25 Freschetta (or however it's spelled). It's not all that different from Digorno and it's about a dollar cheaper.
However, I usually just make my own French bread pizzas.
1 loaf of French bread - $1 1 jar of pizza sauce (good for about two loaves of bread) - 90 cents some Hormel pepperoni (good for 4 -6 loaves of bread) - $1.80 baggy of shredded mozzarella (good for 2-3 loaves of bread) -$1.70
That's good enough for me. I keep meaning to add more stuff to it, but I never think of it when I'm at the grocery store. I have this about once a week. It takes about the same time to prepare as a frozen pizza does. |
