I love orange juice. love it more than Kevin Bacon in "Stir of Echoes". The other night I woke up from a fevered dream of lemonade with a raging thirst, and the orange juice I drank brought a tear to my eye.

But Orange Juice from Concentrate? Forget it. It has none of the good properties of real orange juice. It's hard edged, bitter, and totally bereft of subtlety or nuance. It's McDonalds vs. Filet Mignon.

And I've got two gallons to get through before I can go back to the store and get myself some real Orange Juice.

Isn't that the stuff that causes cancer in lab rats?

By the way, has anyone here actually tried Moxie?

I only remember the clear stuff, we're going back a few years here, I mainly remember it because I used to not drink coke as a kid, flat out refused and my dad tried to con me with it the once.

I was too smart for his tricksy tricks.

Tab was one of (if not the) first diet colas. It has saccarine.
PixieSteve Posted - 05/10/2005 : 10:10:41
officially it's still in production, but a lot harder to find.

yeah, I thought I saw regular Tab in walmart last month. i guess they still make it? Maybe I was hallucinating.

actually i think Tab was just a sugar free coke (similar to diet coke) and Tab Clear was just another type to compete with a clear pepsi... google is great :)

Tab. I like the font on the can. Yes, I'm judging the book by the proverbial cover. It doesn't even matter in this situation.

This is just a hypothetical question..

but what do you all want to drink? Let's see we have...

I pretty much don't like any Minute Maid drinks come to think of it. even their orange soda is nasty.

Minute Maid isn't very good, but it'll do in a pinch.

Their lemonade is pretty much the same way, only worse.

I will never forget the time both my husband and I thought the other had cleaned the juicer only to discover a week later when we tried to make more juice that something was horribly wrong.

I can still remember the smell!

NimrodsSon Posted - 05/09/2005 : 15:59:54
The only downside to juicers is that they take forever to clean, but it's generally worth it if you have the time.

Minute Maid orange juice tastes awful.

My fave is Florida Natural. And Tropicana is pretty good too. I only buy stuff that already comes made in a carton. the best OJ i've had was at a hotel in Belize that made it freshly squeezed.

BLT your comment cracks me up, because my mom used to buy donald duck OJ! She knows better now. I guess 33 cents a can seemed like a good deal or something.

Happy Birthday Cheeseman! Juicers are awesome! Squeezed at home is better than anything you can find in a store. Have you tried making carrot juice yet? It is one of my favorites!
Cheeseman1000 Posted - 05/09/2005 : 14:20:57
I got a juicer for my birthday! It's an old-school, hand-cranked kind of deal, and good gravy is the juice better than anything from a carton.

Yeah, grapefruit is too sour. I love apple and grape juices, though.

Pinneapple juice is my favourite. I hate grapefuits with a passion (fruit).

I think Tropicana does a good job in the 'not from concentrate' field and would rank them right below squeezing my own.

Yeah you gotta squeeze your own juice out.

Juiced in a juice extractor = best
Freshly squeezed = pretty damn good
"Indian River" pasteurized orange juice, not from concentrate = decent
Other pasteurized, not from concentrate orange juices = sometimes okay
From concentrate = terrible, always
"Sunny Delight" = horrendous, undrinkable

lol.

yeah, freshly squeezed is loads better, but i settle for "from concentrate" most of the time.

Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 04/18/2005 : 13:42:20
Squeezing your own is the only way to go.

Yeah, but maybe it would turn out to be eggplant juice.
