Posted - 02/26/2007 : 12:53:21 our beloved cat, kitty was run over and killed this morning. my wife found her on the road on her way to work. we're just so incredibly upset. been blubbing all morning. we loved her so much.
we got her when we lived in Western Australia, and actually bought her back to New Zealand when we moved back, which cost us $1500. we would have paid 10 times that we loved her so much. we only had her for 18 months, but she was just the best cat in the world. she made such a difference to our life. we're inconsolable.
in memory of kitty, here's one of our favourite piccies: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/einzack/kitty.jpg

Posted - 07/25/2007 : 02:35:46 Speaking of death of a pet....I wish my roommate's dog, Dusty, would die. She's 8 years old ( Dusty ), so old age isn't gonna get her too soon.
She got sprayed by a skunk the other night because she's retarded, so now I'm laying out bowls of coffee grounds and bowls of vinegar around the house and burning candles.
I hate dogs anyway. They need too much attention & care. Cats are much better.

Posted - 07/23/2007 : 23:28:47 whoah, i'm sorry you and your kids have to go through all this misfortune usually, when you bring a puppy into a home with "indigenous" cats, they can sense the puppie's immaturity and house rules are quickly established and last even into the dog's adulthood. it's different with adult dogs, they may have their own ideas already. another thing with dogs is the pack factor. when there's more than one, the packing instincts set in, making them surprisingly more daring and prone to doing things they otherwise never would. the human family makes for a pack surrogate and the dog follows their set of rules if he is convinced they are the most capable in the pack to lead it. if there are more dogs living together and if they have strong personalities, it makes it harder to convince them so. sorry for this blab, coastline, just some things that popped into my head about some dog incidents around where i live, not trying to compare to your situation.

Posted - 07/23/2007 : 19:04:02 WHICH GOD DID I OFFEND? We came home today to find that one of our new dogs (see above) killed one of our two remaining cats (see below -- the white one). Not sure what else to say. This has to be the worst pet year of my life. My little boys are beginning to think their furry loved ones are supposed to die regularly.
We took the dogs back to the pound. So now we're down to one cat (the fat, striped one below) and no dogs.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Capy was part Australian shepherd, part something nasty -- like a doberman or a rottweiler. And maybe part blue heeler. Despite the mix, she was a hell of a dog. Losing her was tough. I feel guilty for saying this, but losing the cat hasn't been as big a blow. But then we'd had her just a year and she wasn't our only cat.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Posted - 07/15/2007 : 07:34:46 What a year. First, our dog, and now one of our cats. Just found Lily dead this morning. Haven't broke it to the kids yet. The older one is gonna be devastated. Life's a bitch sometimes. Has anyone mentioned that? Here's one of my favorite pix ever, of both the dog and the cat that we've lost this year:

jimmy, that doesn't sound stupid. That makes perfect sense. A friend is blowing off tomorrow's highly anticipated (in my house) Rachid Taha because his dog of 20 years died today. Twenty years. That's about the only reason I would miss that show.
I got some heaven in my head

Posted - 07/07/2007 : 18:37:59 My parent's cat Nicki ( short for Nicodemus ) was killed by a coyote last summer. It was sad enough, but it was also extra sad because I thought about how one of my brother's friends had given him Nicki when we were in high school, before we coyuld even drive, I think.
It might sound stupid, but it was like a bridge to a whole other era was gone. When we got Nicki we were all still living at home, together as a family and now we're adults out on our own.

Posted - 07/07/2007 : 15:39:48 My family recently decided that we've mourned our old dog long enough, and that we should get a new one. So we went to the Denver Dumb Friends League and picked up one two today. All's well in the world again now. Here are Remy and Touly:

Posted - 05/01/2007 : 10:59:53 A lot of animals get dropped off near to where i live. This past weekend someone left a dog that was starved so much that you could see most of her skeleton sticking out. She's staying with me now until i can get a home for her. Dogs have been stolen from my locality too in the past.

As you probably know this pet poisoning case just seems to keep spreading. About 2000 dogs and 2000 cats reportedly (I don't know if that means it has been tested) dead from the poisonous food.

I was thinking about this thread today. We lost our family dog this afternoon. It happened out of the blue. She was only 7. I don't know what happened -- she might have eaten something bad, or maybe she had something terribly wrong inside her, but she woke up sick this morning at was dead by noon. Today has been one of the worst days ever. I feel worst for my little boys. It was hard to explain to them what was going on. We just thought she was a bit sick this morning, and then next thing we knew she was dead and we were trying to explain it all to the kids. Ugh. Congrats on your new kitties, benji. They're very cute. Maybe in a couple months I'll post pix of a new dog or puppy. Not really ready to consider that, though.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
That's terrible, coastline. I feel bad for your family. Whenever I hear about something like this, it hurts. When it happens so unexpectedly, it's just gut wrenching.
I hope your next pet will bring you joy.

Posted - 04/16/2007 : 02:13:52 That pic reminds of my cat, "Bob" when she was just a wee one. We rescued her from the pound, and she's now about 14 years old.
She's indoor/outdoor, but always comes home. One night she didn;t come to the door and I couldn't find her. I walked around the neighborhood for an hour at 2 a.m. and had this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that she was gone somehow and couldn't believe how emotional I got over it.
She was there the next morning at the door. I guess she just went for an extended adventure.
But that experience let me know just how much you can love a pet - they are like a family member.
I feel for you benji, and I'm glad you found some new kitties to love.
