Posted - 10/08/2006 : 11:15:02 I hope we didn't have this topic already.
With much urging from my brother-in-law I am checking out this band. Apparently Bowie says they are the best thing since sliced bread. I just noticed they do a cover of Mr.Grieves.
Anybody else check this band out? What do you think?

Posted - 10/10/2006 : 10:27:08 I love them - Return To Cookie Mountain has been on repeat since I bought it with Wolf Like Me being the stand out track. Brian, curiously enough I rediscovered your Broken Face Dreading Another Snowstorm mix from a few years ago featuring them just the other day. Oh and live they're sexy groovy tastic.
Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself. |

Posted - 10/09/2006 : 16:23:41 Thanks for the Letterman youtube connection, Thomas. Why does every new band have to have one guitar player doing nothing but attacking a couple high note harmony parts the whole song? It's so cliche'. I would have liked this song a whole lot better if Dave would have gone up and just unplugged said guitarist's guitar. |

Posted - 10/09/2006 : 10:24:40 They're the kind of band I find I need to be in the mood for listening to. If I'm not, they can be hard to have on for too long, but if I am nothing else will do. This makes me think they've definitely got some kind of brilliance going on, I'm just not fully in on the joke yet.
In any event, though, they're well worth a shot.

They're a tad difficult at times.

Saw them on letterman last month. Loved the guitar hated the singers voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73qBnuzrjx0
Not even being from Brooklyn, my home town, will make me like them more.

Posted - 10/08/2006 : 12:15:20 I in fact do like them, and hope to be going to see them soon. I don't think there's really any band quite like them around at the moment.

Posted - 10/08/2006 : 11:37:29 Cheesoid made me listen to them, I liked it actually. Took a couple of goes for me, it always does nowadays though, it's very rare for something to grab me right away. Their cover of Mr Grieves made me giggle and I'm not sure that was the intended effect. It's quite bizzare but in a good way. |
