Season 2 finished up here in Ireland tonight and the prospects of season 3 are good.
I know it might be a bit early to be talking about it, but it’s only 3 months away.

Here’s some official info on season 3:
”Season three will begin airing in the United States and Canada on October 4, 2006. It will feature 23 episodes that will be delivered in two blocks: an initial autumn arc of six episodes and a second run of seventeen consecutive episodes beginning in February 2007.
The story will continue 65 days after the crash, and Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have planned for the coming season to focus on the Others (as led by "Henry Gale") and their history, ranks, and goals. According to executive producer Damon Lindelof, the audience will meet more survivors of the plane crash as new characters in the third season, and these new survivors' flashbacks will be featured as a unique and central component of the series
(existing cast members' flashbacks will accordingly be fewer than in previous seasons).”

When I first saw the pilot, I was only watching to see what the show was about. I was intrigued considering the hype surrounding the show. I thought it was going to be some kind of “lets pull together as a team and love each other” bullshit kind of a show, where people have to cope with their diversities on a deserted island. Of course when trees started to get torn down by a “security system” I was hooked. I never thought it was a dinosaur, just some kind of giant mechanical beastie. Turns out it was…smoke.

P.S. Before I go any further, to avoid having people go “Aw, you ruined the show for me by saying that”, it’s probably better to write spoilers in red so people who haven’t seen all of season2 don’t get crazy.

Spoiler Warning For Channel 4 viewers
Something that bothered me about the season 2 finale (other than the fact that RTE choose to split the finale and show it over two weeks) is Desmond’s boat. He was on his way to Fiji, but landed back at the island due to the magnetism. Right. To get to Fiji wouldn’t he be using a GPS system or something? Don’t most sea worthy boats have radio transmitters, to contact people if the need help? How come none of the islanders asked these questions as it would aid it their rescue? Sayid, who knows stuff about transmitters is on the boat sailing around with Jin, who knows how to sail, and they never mention it. If the magnetism of the island brought him back there, then even the ships compass would have been spinning wildly. But no one brings it up. It seems like a total cock-up.
This plot hole could’ve been easily fixed:

Random Character: Is there a radio transmitter on the boat? Something we can use?
Desmond: No brother (brothah), when I found the boat it had been ram sacked. The transmitters and GPS were gone. (Cue Spooky Music)

I‘m glad they resolved some of the unanswered questions. But there‘s still a lot of things left lingering. One of which is Libby‘s back-story, which seems hard to resolve considering she’s dead and can’t have flashbacks. But I’m sure she’ll turn up elsewhere

I’ll admit the acting/writing/camera work/cgi aren’t always spot on. But it always redeems itself with a seat-jumpingly good cliff-hanger at the end of the show, that‘ll have shouting “what the shit?” at your TV.

Here’s season 3 stuff from comic-con

Oh, and what’s your view on the season 2 finale. Did it live up to JJ Abrams “Greatest finale in TV history”?

Weren't they working for Penny or am I confusing them for the guys in the Arctic?

I just watched the finale recently, kind of left me disappointed but also relieved to finally get through the somewhat cumbersome season 6.

Did anyone ever work out who the two guys in the boat out by the antarctic playing chess were, remember right at the end of Season 1 (maybe 2)? They were playing chess and then there was a distress signal or something...

Was this part of a plot they decided to drop? It just seems to have had absolutely nothing to do with anything.

I just watched, it´s a good ending although leave the door open for a movie. The epilogue gives you a good explanation of polar bears in the island and Walt appears again!....

I agree with Brian, Ben didn't feel like he was ready to move on - he had to make things right with Alex and Rousseau first (it helped that he made things right with Locke).

But hot damn, what a beautiful ending.

I'm rewatching the finale now, and i'm guessing by Ben's face that he would rather not go in to the church because he can be with Alex and Danielle.

They already loved each other. Sawyer had the not being a bad boy thing, but he was still seeking revenge.

Charlie was worse in the alt than he was before he died.

Charlie also didn't seem to work anything out.

So, was the Desmond as the "fail safe" just Jacob being wrong? Or is it really necessary to have a time traveler for people to remember their lives after their dead?

Agreed, so what did Kate work out?

I would guess that she came to terms with her role as a surrogate mother to Aaron - it was during her delivering Aaron that she "got it."

My least favorite part is the Sayid/Shannon reunion. She was clearly his second choice to Nadia. Cheap way to bring back a pretty face.

Alright, so the alt world was some kind of purgatory where everyone got something they wanted (Jack good father, Locke learned to ask for help, Ben got to be in charge and be a good "dad", Hurley was lucky, Sawyer was a "good guy" cop, Juliet got to deliver babies that lived, Sun and Jin got to spend time together), but what did Kate and Charlie get?

Why didn't Ben go into the church?

Where did the plane with Sawyer and others go after it took off? I guess they just had a "normal" life somewhere.

In the end, there was just good on the island? What happened to the theme of good/evil?

What the hell did Widmore want?

I think the Island is a place that brings out the extremes in personality - so you put Ben there, and he gets maniacal, you put Jack there, he becomes a hero.

Ben didn't go into the Church because he didn't work out all his issues yet. Much like why Michael, Eko, etc presumably (besides contractual reasons) weren't in there either.

Hahah, i just spent too much time thinking about it.
After all, it was one of the most intriguing and involving shows i have ever seen. I would go online after certain episodes looking up literary references, clues through characters names, scientific realities versus the shows plot, etc.

Not every question was answered (The story behind the hieroglyphics and the origins of "mother" for example) but i feel this was done for a reason, so that fans would debate over their favourite show for years to come.

As a finale, it had an air of finales from previous seasons, aerial shots, that theme that i can't remember the name of (it was in the first season finale), epic fisticuffs, two groups on separate quests. Everything that made Lost finales great. The dying moments of the show in the bamboo field were fitting. The scene was the same, but the man of science was now the man of faith.

OK, so black horse wasn't answered, but you did get to see the other three. So NOW are all of your questions answered?

My brain just got fucked. I have to think on this one for a day or so.

Or Frogurt maybe!

I found out to that RTÉ will be showing the finale Monday instead of Thursday, so thankfully i won't be watching crappy online footage or waiting 4 days in suspense. Also Sky1 is doing a simultaneous broadcast with ABC for the finale. This means Sky is showing it from 5am-7.30am Monday morning if anyone wants to stay up for that

"Why couldn't Jacob kill the smoke monster? The smoke monster could kill him (and did). Right? Where is Miles? What happened to the pilot? Who let out Desmond?"

Jacob and the smoke monster couldn't kill each other because they're mother (who was the previous jacob) made it so that they couldnt kill eac other. The smoke monster cant kill Jacob directly, he tries to get Richard to kill him in Ab Aterno, and gets Ben to kill him in The Incident. Miles is running through the jungle, the pilot got killed in the submarine, and Desmond was let out by Sayid.

I just went to a live HD telecast (at a movie theatre) of an interview with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (and as surprise guests Michael Emerson and Jorge Garcia) which was really cool. They showed some clips from the series and i'm actually uppset that I cant watch the whole thing on a theatre screen - I can't over-emphasize how amazing it looked on the big screen. It just felt right, and added layers of epicness.

I think the Horse, and most of the other things people saw on the island from their past is the smoke monster. I think Rose and Bernard stayed in 1977, it seems like only the candidates moved forward in time - just like they were the only ones who went back in time when Ajira was landing on the island.

Looking forward to the finale!

I hope the show can still surprise me in a good way. So I'm waiting for the last episodes to have an opinion about it actually. I was quite frustrated by this season. Way too much idle and empty for me when there was so much to develop / explain. For a while now I had the feeling pretty much of the mysteries finally weren't so mysterious at all(take the Dharma Initiative, on Season 2 and with the Lost Experience we could have imagined it was something insanely huge and when you see the episodes from season 5 you're tempted to consider there were just a bunch of scientists all in all...). I hope those deceptions had a meaning and - as naive as it could sound, but I don't expect much from the show anymore except for it to end so I can use my time better! - I'm waiting for the reward for all of this on the occasion of the last couple of episodes.

I liked the latest episode though!

Well my theory was that Jacob and MiB would be twins, and hey, i was right!

Originally i thought that Jacob was going to be Charlie Jr (As in Desmond's son Charlie) And MiB would be David Shepard (Somehow torn through a parallel universe, becoming the smoke monster as a result)

Actually one of my main theories was almost the same than yours except Jacob would have been Aaron travelling in time...

I saw it indeed (Luckily RTÉ is only 2 days behind ABC for new episodes)

One question from Across The Sea that bugs me is that if MiB lived with Claudia's people for 30 years, what did they refer to him as?
They would have had to give him some sort of a name!

Asking a question in Season 1 Episode 6 and not getting around to an answer for almost 6 years in Season 6 Episode 15 has got to be a record.

As a fan who's watched every episode, I'd completely forgotten about them.

Goodness knows how many more questions will be answered in the end.
