You have to check this out. Mike Patton at his finest. I really dig the track with Massive Attack!
Peeping Tom's track listing is:
Five Seconds (with Odd Nosdam) Mojo (with Rahzel and Dan the Automator) Don't Even Trip (with Amon Tobin) Getaway (with Kool Keith) Your Neighborhood Spaceman (with Jel and Odd Nosdam) Kill The DJ (with Massive Attack) Caipirinha (with Bebel Gilberto) Celebrity Death Match (with Kid Koala) How U Feelin? (with Doseone) Sucker (with Norah Jones) We're Not Alone (with Dub Trio)

Posted - 12/04/2006 : 07:35:22 Hey I was standing just beside from where that footage was taken. I moved to the front to get better sound after a while. The show was in an old theatre called the Apolo and was nice and intimate as the stage was just three feet off the ground and halfmoon-shaped. That clip above was taken from the last song when Zorn came out to conduct, the whole thing was so crazy it made Fantomas seem like Burt Bacharach. It was just over an hour long but it felt like a fully rounded experience. Iīd never heard the Moonchild stuff before so what was interesting to me was the way Zorn seems to be a great storyteller, though not in a way you can understand verbally of course because there werenīt any, just considering the music is so fractured-sounding and hyperactive there seemed to be a current flowing through the whole thing - though praps itīs not the kind of thing you can explain verbally either. It was my first time seeing Patton and Iīd love to know how he coaxes such sounds from his throat, from these bottomdeep growls to some glasscutter/feedback-type sound in a couple of seconds. He took a dive into the crowd just beside where I was standing at the front - it is a tiny theatre - and it was funny to watch him get tossed back onto the stage by the crowd still spitting and shrieking without missing a beat. Trevor Dunn was amazing, most times it seems like thereīs three or four other instruments along with bass but no itīs just him. And this Baron guy was great too, one thing impressed me was one song ended in a perfect board-fade like in a studio album, first time Iīve heard a band do it that nicely. One of the best shows I see in a while, I gave a concert myself a few days after and found Tuesdayīs show deeply inspiring, I felt more comfortable throwing my voice about during the songs and with the crowd in between them.

Posted - 11/28/2006 : 14:57:15 I don't quite understand this. From what I gather MP wanted to make a pop album? I mean I when I was listening to it for the first time I noticed how pop the music was, and then I read an article about it and thats basically what he said. I'm not sure FNM would be considered pop by most, but they did have at least one song on the radio and mtv (which imo is as pop as MP needs to be). I'll admit he worked with some good artists but...I'm not sure maybe I need to listen more. Not to say there aren't a few decent tracks on here but since I've been really into California the past week or so this is a bit of a disappointment. I also love Fantomas's version of the Rosemary's Baby Theme |

Mike Patton was at his evil best. Live this has so much more bite to it. Rahzel was astounding as always. I'm listening to the album in a new light now. |

Iīve been listening to a lot of Patton lately and I enjoyed the record but wasnīt quite as thrilled by it as I had been for years previously, his newer stuff is more limber (though I did see FNM as mostly Billy Gouldīs band so itīs a different vibe I spose). If you like that record Iīd recommend Mr Bungleīs California, the last one Patton made with those guys in 99, itīs quite nutty and cohesive, (thereīs a song called Ars Morendi which is some kind of Balkan gypsy metal with some tango thrown in Iīm finding inspiring at moment).
Funny.. I can't put a finger on what attracts me to it..but it's almost like a black hole to happy for me!
Will give California another spin too, thanks!!

I've got AotY, i prefer it to a lot of other FNM, but still doesn't compare to AD to me...maybe i'm just nuts. ;)
Will check out Tomahawk! I've given Peeping Tom a few spins, there are a few songs i'm really enjoying, but it's not super-consistent..
Yep, gonna try and peep in a bit more often, now that it's fairly slow! (I can't stand clicking Active Topics and seeing like 50...gaah! Can't keep up!)

I'm not entirely sure if i qualify for a MP fan.. The FNM album 'Angel Dust' is one of my all-time favorite albums. I swear i cannot tire of listening to it....but i don't like most of the rest of FNM, and i really haven't found any other Patton stuff i really enjoy...
Is there more that is similar to Angel Dust? What do other fans think of this album?

Posted - 09/15/2006 : 00:10:06 Yes, Moonchild is on Tzadik - it's Patton, Dunn and Joey Baron performing Zorn pieces ("Songs without words" is the subtitle). Patton sings/moans/rasps/coughs/screams/mutters in a "preverbal language" as the others pound away. It is noisy and very intense.
The T-shirt looks good too.

Posted - 08/21/2006 : 11:23:25 As good as Patton's projects can be it's still a little difficult when a white dude names his songs "How U Feelin'" and "Don't Even Trip". Sounds like something off the Kevin Federline album who incidentally "brought the house down yo" at the Teen Choice Awards last night, if you missed it I feel sorry for you. It was THAT good.

We are very happy to announce that PEEPING TOM have been asked to open the first 7 US shows for the freakin' WHO in September!!!!!! First Gnarls Barkley, then the WHO???? This is fun! I'm not talking about the Guess Who. We're talking "Won't Get Fooled Again". Pete and Roger. Madison Square Garden. Hot damn. Look for dates listed in calendar section. To be honest, not sure if any tickets are left. Mama's got a squeeze box, she wears on her chest."
