Posted - 03/12/2010 : 07:34:10 To be honest I thought Real and Lyon both looked quite poor. Lyon need some serious shooting practice if they're serious about going through, based on this game anyway. To be fair they don't seem to have trouble scoring in Ligue 1 so I'll let them off, this once.

Posted - 05/23/2007 : 23:42:43 No, it wasn't a very memorable match. I thought it was ok that Milan won it. They played great against Bayern and ManU. And managed to score twice in a final where Liverpool never looked like they could.
The only thing is that they shouldn't have participated in this CL-season and only did because of political protection. And to see the broad smiles on Galliani's and Berlusconi's faces during the ceremonies at the end was hard to bear.
And damn Kuyt for ruining my bet two minutes before the end! And for nothing.

Posted - 05/23/2007 : 09:31:09 I had a dream last night that it was 3-1 to Milan. I think Liverpool scored first.
But I hope that Liverpool win. I still can't figure out how Milan failed to score in two games against Celtic and only won the tie in ET.

Milan surprised me during this CL-season. Impressive how they got their act together when it beagan to matter. Even began to play good ball... They should be able to win this. My bet: 2-0
My heart is with Liverpool though. |

Posted - 05/03/2007 : 05:41:34 Yeah we were well beaten in the end. Good look to Milan, they were the better team over the two legs, no doubt.
Obviously I hope they win in the final.

Boy, what a clunker. Both sides looked tired. You would think the final rounds would provide the best matches instead of showcasing dead legs. Hopefully today will be another ManU/ACM classic...
If by "classic" you mean "ass kicking", then you are correct. You had to know that all the ManU defensive injuries would catch up to them at some point.

Cheers fbc. Um, I'm not sure he will really. Much of the Celtic support don't think he should have played as much as he did this year. He's overweight and slow. The problem is we don't have another natural defensive midfielder.

I can...if they can hit Drogba with a late tackle in the last 5 minutes. That guy seems to be able to score at will in the last minutes of a game.
Crouch just needs to give Terry some chin music in the box. He'd only have to raise his arm to chest height to do it!
But hey, sorry, I'm a hockey player, so I have to take into account that these guys don't wear pads.
"He's big, he's red, his feet stick out the bed..." - go Crouch!

Posted - 04/25/2007 : 23:48:39 Extra time yes, golden goal no. That rule doesn't exist any more, thank god. It would be overtime, and in case of a still tied score at the end of it, penaltys. |
Jefrey |
Posted - 04/25/2007 : 14:25:00 So if the score is 3-2 at Milan at the end of regulation, then they play golden goal extra time? How weird that you would play overtime in a game that is not tied. But I do understand that they have way too many fixtures to play.

Posted - 04/25/2007 : 08:32:45 Nice job by United. I thought they were toast after falling behind and not looking sharp in doing so. Rooney seems to have his act together now, and with Ronaldo also playing well, they are the one side that can win with less than airtight defending. I'd sure like to see Liverpool beat the snot out of Chelski today, should be a good one....

Now, can someone explain this aggregate thing to me? It applies only as a tiebreaker right? So if the complete amount of goals scored added together for each team ends up being a tie, then the team that scored the most away goals wins the tiebreaker? What happens if Roma wins 3-2 at home? Do they do overtime, or a replay, or what?
Also, did they just decide on this rule because football is such a gruelingly long sport with very few subs and an assload of games to play (i.e. to cut down on the minutes played and wear and tear)? It seems to me that football is one of the sports where home field is not nearly as much of an advantage os other team sports, aside from the crowd. Especially in Champions league, I would think most of the grounds are pretty equal in quality. Am I wrong?
Also also, spell checker suggested that "assload" should be two words. I disagree.

Yeah that is when the away goal rule comes into play. It can only be extra time now if Milan (not Roma) win 3-2.
They have this rule to avoid replays, as the fixture lists are already packed. They also do it to avoid away teams from defending the whole time, thus ruining the game for the spectator.
Anyway, I was delighted with the result in the end. Before the game I wouldn't have been too happy with that, but seeing where we were at half time, it ended up a great result.
I am confident now that we can get a score draw in Milan. It will be tough though. Hopefully Gattuso will be out for them.
