Posted - 01/27/2007 : 13:40:05 Letters from Iwo Jima will win, but The Departed is my personal pick. Scorcese will finally win, although the odds are of course (as always against him). Will Smith would be my pick, but my prediction is Forest Whitaker.

Posted - 01/27/2007 : 13:38:03 This thread is outdated. For the 79th Oscars I think Letters From Iwo Jima will win, but The Departed is better a movie. For Best Director, could this finally be Scorcese's year? I think so.
All of my predictions are at http://www.movie-source.com/oscars.asp

i saw it the other day. i don't think it would be a crime if he won best director. it's definitely a huge achievement. but i'd be happier if Scorsese won.
i haven't seen IWO JJIMA yet. and i hear it's good, but i think it would suck if Scorsese lost out to Eastwood again (and would prove that the Academy is prejudiced against Italians)

Posted - 01/07/2007 : 15:00:31 I'd like to see "The Departed" win for everything. From what I hear, that movie "Babel" will probably be nominated- I didn't see it because it looked like it would be a lot like "Crash" which I did see and hated for about a hundred different reason. |

Posted - 01/06/2007 : 12:51:43 I have a feeling The Prestige will be overlooked. I thought it was the best film of 2006. Yes, even better than The Departed which everyone raves about. I'd like Little Miss Sunshine to win best screenplay, and I'd like The Prestige to win Picture, Director and Adapted Screenplay. Also, it will be a damn shame if Mark Wahlberg doesn't get a best supporting actor Oscar. He was fantastic in The Departed.
