one thing i've never understood is why people, long ago, came all the way to the United States from all these freezing cold miserable regions only to move to other freezing cold miserable regions. all those Germans and Norwegians in North Dakota could have just travelled another few hundred miles and been in Colorado

i can make fun of them because some of them are my ancestors
fumanbru Posted - 02/17/2006 : 23:34:20
fuck is it ever cold out tonight! -36 C with the wind chill. i think i may have frozen my balls.

I think I jinxed myself now it's really cold. But at least not the kind of cold your snot freezes. So I guess it could be worse and now the sun is staying out longer ;)
Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 02/07/2006 : 09:11:00
Oh, uh... yeah! You mean you're NOT getting sun burned while BBQing?!

Yeah it was more fun to let them think it was above 0 here!

Or maybe I'm just bored...:)

Today it rained on the snow, that fell yesterday. That combination of muddy and icy is really something.
And it's only the beginning of february. There's more to come for two more months! Grey skies rule!

had lunch outdoors again, this time without the protection of an umbrella. i think the right side of my face got sunburned.

(see, living in warmer climates isn't all it's cracked up to be)

The squirrels are getting frisky on campus. Hubba hubba.

It's winter alright in Berlin right now. I just walked home through a heavy snow&wind combo.

Tonight will be another Jamaican Red Stripe/kick back on the porch to watch the sun slowly fade scenario. I suspect the same sweet dusky breeze will be coming along to kiss me on the cheek.

I took a bike ride through the Hollywood Hills today and produced abundant perspiration.

The groundhog has never really shown that much skill as a meteorologist, though.

Well we had groundhog day yesterday so another six more weeks of winter.

Carloynanna no I agree it hasn't been a "real" winter. If we had had lots of snow and sunshine and stuff it would have been better but this grey yucky winter is making me ready for warmer temps, sun and everything.

As for global warming, I think the correct term is climate change. Part of this is from CO2 and even if it weren't, this doesn't change the fact that pollution and emissions need to decrease.

EXACTLY. That's why I can't understand why people who insist that global warming isn't happening think that means there shouldn't be any environmental regulations whatsoever. Even if it doesn't affect the ozone layer at all, pollution is still undeniably harmful. Not surprisingly, many of those who deny global warming have corporate interests at heart (well, if they can be said to HAVE hearts).

On a more local level, it's unseasonably warm today, and I am quite glad of it.

stamp them out the troublesome oiks!

I've been told it was snowing here this morning, I was in bed so missed it, heh. It's been weird here weather-wise this winter I think.

I love Guitar Wolf from the Erath!

It's a trap to sweep out our French speaking members.

Wow, I didn't know that SAD is recognized in the DSM.

According to this site you better break out the lightbox, or lithium or paxil...

i always know it's wintertime when i actually consider wearing a long sleeve t-shirt for outdoor barbecues
HeywoodJablome Posted - 02/02/2006 : 09:47:06
Yep, no real winter in California either. It's like freakin' June! Only I guess a bit more chilly at night. It's depressing when you go skiing and the only snow on the mountain is on the actual ski runs.
