I want it to get warmer here. We've had mild winters in Ireland over the past few years (probably thanks to the Greenhouse Effect), but it's still a bit chilly.

Mmmh... lots of girls wear shorts this winter in Paris.
It looks ugly on about 90% of them, by the way.

I doubt anyone would notice the greenhouse effect or global warming.
The change in temperature is just way to slow.

I watched a news program that explained what was happening.
Yikes, someone help me out when I butcher this...(darwin? anyone?)
Something about the regular cold front or mass or something that is usually responsible for Canadian winters has shifted more towards Europe, just this year.
Therefore it is so warm here (we literally have no snow), and much colder than usual where you guys are.

We had our fifth day of winter yesterday. Otherwise, it could hardly be called that.

As for global warming, I think the correct term is climate change. Part of this is from CO2 and even if it weren't, this doesn't change the fact that pollution and emissions need to decrease. Climate change also means that fundamental weather systems are moving - like the Gulf Stream that largely supplies Europe with its warmth in the winter. How much is unknown and debatable. Ozone holes also create the possibility of more heating in the polar regions particularly, causing higher air pressures there, melting ice, and a shift in winds AND water currents. More air from the north means that even if the Gulf Stream was unchanged, the air moving south into Europe won't be going across that magical waterway and so, colder winters.

Finally, a large part of global warming comes from something called the urban heat island effect. Consider where most places are measuring their temperatures (and have been for decades). Many remote measurement stations show an overall cooling trend in spite of our best efforts, though this is far trumped by the urban heating effect.

Anyway, that's just some of my thoughts on the subject, IANAM.

36 is a little warm, but it'll be winter there soon enough. Buahahaha!

Yep, no real winter in California either. It's like freakin' June! Only I guess a bit more chilly at night. It's depressing when you go skiing and the only snow on the mountain is on the actual ski runs.

EXACTLY. That's why I can't understand why people who insist that global warming isn't happening think that means there shouldn't be any environmental regulations whatsoever. Even if it doesn't affect the ozone layer at all, pollution is still undeniably harmful. Not surprisingly, many of those who deny global warming have corporate interests at heart (well, if they can be said to HAVE hearts).

On a more local level, it's unseasonably warm today, and I am quite glad of it.

Well we had groundhog day yesterday so another six more weeks of winter.

Carloynanna no I agree it hasn't been a "real" winter. If we had had lots of snow and sunshine and stuff it would have been better but this grey yucky winter is making me ready for warmer temps, sun and everything.
