Posted - 10/12/2005 : 13:28:36 A female friend just sent this.
What do you think?
------------------ Women vs. Men
Women
Yes = No No = Yes Maybe = No I'm sorry. = You'll be sorry We need = I want It's your decision = The correct decision should be obvious by now. Do what you want = You'll pay for this later We need to talk = I need to complain Sure, go ahead = I don't want you to I'm not upset = Of course I'm upset, you moron! You're so manly = You need a shave and you sweat a lot You're certainly attentive tonight = Is sex all you ever think about? Be romantic, turn out the lights = I have flabby thighs I'll be ready in a minute = Kick off your shoes and find a good game on T.V. You have to learn to communicate = Just agree with me
Men "I'm hungry" = I'm hungry "I'm sleepy" = I'm sleepy "I'm tired" = I'm tired "Do you want to go to a movie?" = I'd like to have sex with you "Can I take you out to dinner?" = I'd like to have sex with you "Can I call you sometime?" = I'd like to have sex with you "Nice dress!" = Nice cleavage! "You look tense, let me give you a massage" = I want to fondle you "What's wrong?" = What meaningless self-inflicted psychological trauma are you going through now? "I'm bored" = Do you want to have sex? "I love you" = Let's have sex now "I love you, too" = Okay, I said it. We'd better have sex now "Yes, I like the way you cut your hair" = $50 and it doesn't look that much different "Let's talk" = I am trying to impress you by showing that I am a deep person and maybe then you'd like to have sex with me (while shopping) "I like that one better" = Pick any freakin' dress and let's go home
This love is a cancer in me, I can feel it advancing in me This fire it is my light in the world

Posted - 10/28/2005 : 14:31:31 Yeah, that's cool. I mean, I have a two-disc set of Talking Heads songs that I listen to a lot, so I have no problem with TMBG releasing something similar. I do wish they'd chosen a better title, though.

That's why the best response to that question would be to make a mix CD.
Said mix CD was delivered a couple of hours ago and I cringed while being bombarded with the usual "what does that song mean to you?" queries. Like, no, I don't feel like explaining why I listen to COR every day so shut up and listen to your own music and don't grill me on mine.

Now THERE'S a bad title, if ever there was one. I remember when it was announced, and people were thinking it might actually include some DAS recordings. Nope, it's just a misleading title.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why the bitterness, VV? That's a brilliant title because it doesn't promise such recordings but merely (and cleverly and with the best kind of nostalgia) alludes to them. It's low-key self-referencially hip, not misleading.
Well, I DO have a bad allergic reaction to hipness, so maybe that has something to do with it. But I think it's more that an actual DAS collection would have been really damned cool, while a collection of songs I already have is, well, significantly less cool.
I agree with the latter (indeed, why buy a collection of songs you already have?). But still, not everybody knows about that old-school TMBG phenomenon, so it's cool to see people learn about it, don't you think?

I'm going to go against the grain here, and say "not necessarily." I think the REAL test is whether they actually pay attention if you try to tell them about the music you listen to.

Posted - 10/24/2005 : 11:14:15 Frog was awesome, you guys. There was nothing Frank-related he did not know or have, which shocked me because, not sound full of myself, in my pre-Frog days I considered myself a collector of Frank trivia and tunes.
I was proud of myself that I could pass along to Frog a bit of musical trivia, albeit not Frank-related. (I explained the origin of the name of TMBG's compilation "Dial-A-Song.")
