Wow.... this movie is just incredible. This is not only the best Batman film ever, the best comic film ever (easily beating Spiderman 2, as far as I'm concerned) but it is just a great film period, with not need to qualify or excuse it as a comic based movie. The acting, the character development, the cinematography, the dialogue, everything nearly pitch perfect. This is what good storytelling and thrilling action combined can be. I went in with high expectations, and they were absolutely blown away. See this film now.

I saw the movie yesterday and yes I did like it. It was everything you guys said. No doubt the best Batman so far. It's amazing how "realistic" a movie about a comic superhero can be. I mean, the black suit and the bats and all the silly things, it all actually made sense. Very nicely done and fun to wacth. |

Saw it last night. It was good, a little disjointed, but then it had a lot of story and characters to set up. In fact,It was pretty compelling,on the whole. I'm actually really looking forward to the sequel after seeing it. |

There is no point in being entertained unless you really want to forget you can draw the line...

It can, it does for me, but that is not the very point of his music, as well as it is not a music created exclusively for dancing...
ART is entertainment because it makes you aware and can change your mind like sport can change your body.
But entertainment is not necessary ART.
That's the problem.
A film like 2001 Space Odissey is art.
A film like Salo (Pasolini for the profane) is (even more than) art.
A movie like Matrix is a contemporary joke, entertainment but not art, created by young souls who spent too much time in front of their video games instead of reading books...
A contemporary film like Magnolia is art.
A contemporary film like PI is art.
But Requiem for a dream is not...
It's a question of themes and projection of this theme in the future and in the non-temporal human space.
And yes, it makes some pieces of work less valid...
Why not???

On Sunday my first time at cinema since last summer and thought Batman was neither good nor bad, it was information. Donīt know if I like the idea of kids munching popcorn to a flim advising them to ībecome fearī though, as far as good ideas go thatīs right up there with the colourcoded fearometer on teevee news channels. Katie Holmes is hot, thatīs about all Iīll say in its favour.

I mean a GOOD FILM
Because Matrix is supposed to be a good film that a lot of people loved while it is merely a video-game joke with siily actors.
Be honnest....
In 30 years will we remember this film as a piece of art??
That's what cinema is supposed to be all about.

awesome is the only word i can use to describe this. saw it last night - am going again asap! speedy_m - the sneaky butcher gives it two thumbs up my friend.
I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I agree with you all, this film was really well-done.
It has a depth to it that superhero/comic-based movies rarely, if ever, possess. I found myself becoming very much immersed in it...a combination of great actors, great cinematography, and a strength of vision that was substantial and shone through in every facet of the movie.
Highly, highly recommended to those who may not have seen it yet... |

yeah....admittedly that bit did seem a bit odd, i think it was that she was in love with batman not bruce wane, whether or not bruce wane was real...but yeah there was really no point in keeping the love interest, he didnt HAVE to want to be with her in order to want to prove to her that he was a good person to her. |

I have to add my agreements about this Katie Holmes thing, I was watching the film with a big fan of the girl and I said that her blowing him off was stupid but I see they had to do that because if he blew her off it'd be too spiderman but really there's no way she'd blow him off because he was everything she could want in that he did the deeds of goodness (and was a damn fine billionaire), my company disagreed and we argued about it after, they thought that she blew him off because of his drunk lush facade, but thats stupid because she knows he's batman.
I think the love interest should have been kept out of it all together and that Christian Bale should have taken his shirt off a lot more :P

See, itīs one thing for the hero (Spiderman) to say, you know, "Sorry baby, itīs for your own safety." For her to say we canīt until youīre not Batman struck me as an ultimatum and I almost shouted, "You bitch! Now take off your shirt...". Well, maybe not the second part. :)
Anyway, I saw it an English theatre in Munich, it was great. The theatre was also awesome, small but hardwoodish and like it was an anechoic chamber. It was THX certified, too, so I guess that explains it. One of the classiest theatres Iīve been in ever.

The only part I didn't really care for was the end. There were two things that kind of nagged at me, but not so much that I couldn't still enjoy the movie. One was the train scene. It seemed SOOOO overdone and cliche, what with the speeding train and all...Batman the only one between the lives of innocents (and not so innocent) and certain death...
The other thing was how Rachel(?)Dawes approached Bruce at the end of the film. Of course we all know that Batman cannot have a girlfriend, permenently anyway. She made a big thing about how "until Gotham is safe again, we'll just have to wait." Something about this just doesn't quite sit right with me, kind of like how, at the end of Spider-Man he tells Mary Jane he can't be with her.

yeah, i dont really have much more to add, it didnt neccesarily feel like a comic book movie, all the characters seemed to have depth, and gotham seemed like a real city, and batman was dark, bitter and twisted.....loved it |

Batman and Robin was just horrendous, positively horrible.
This however was everything you want Batman to be, dark yet funny and very very sexy. I found myself squealing along in the cinema, there were no major plot surprises but it's batman, you don't expect there to be. Alfred is a gem, Gordon was great, the scarecrow was wonderfully sinister and I agree with everyone who wanted to see more of him because there really wasn't enough and there wasn't much seperation of man and mask there (Cillian Murphy though, hello!) I just loved it, it developed wonderfully and I want more. Now. Please.

I was very sleepy when I saw it, but I liked it. And I cannot say the same about many more comic characters movies.
Loved the hallucination effects. The art director have been on acid at least once in his lifetime.

Yeah, it could'nt tie in with the Burton/Schumaker franchise, it had to have a whole new start! (Like the forthcoming Superman). I agree with you about the previous movies, though I hav'nt seen Batman And Robin(it just can't not be shite!) I hope to see it over the weekend/next week. The positive word of mouth is heartening, then again you have to judge a movie yourself!! :) |

I really, really enjoyed this film. I was glad they decided to redo the entire franchise rather than make a "prequel" which would tie into the later (older) movies.
As for the older movies, like most everyone else, I liked "Batman" pretty well (loved it, in fact, when I was 9 when it came out). As for "Batman Returns," I thought I liked it when I was young, but I saw it on tv recently and it seemed like souless, inane schlock. Of course I loathed "Batman and Robin" and "Batman Forever." (As a matter of fact, I only saw about half of "Batman and Robin" and none of "Batman Forever," but there are some rare situations in which you apparently CAN judge a book by its cover.) Anyway, I saw enough to know that the franchise was swiftly and steadily plummeting toward rock bottom.
