Posted - 04/04/2005 : 01:02:26 Do you often wake up with a song in your head?
I don't think I do usually, but this morning it was Maria McKee - You Gotta Sin to Get Saved for no reason at all. I've only listened to it once or twice in the last 6 months.
Yesterday it was the new Garbage single 'Why Do You Love Me', which is ok, but I've only heard it twice. I do like Shirley Manson's stage posturing though.
Anyway, what song? Often? Any idea why?

Posted - 04/07/2005 : 00:12:39 This morning I woke up with Ocean Man playing in my head, maybe this is because of the summer weather that we're having already, a bit early.
Now, I got to go listen to it.

But I still don't see what the attraction is.

Posted - 04/04/2005 : 12:38:39 well, i know it isn't Jack White.
I should edit to say that I'm 'fairly certain' that the version that is on my comp is from "Songs From The Mountain"...which i was told was the soundtrack...but now I learn that it is not at all the soundtrack:

Lesson learned. Apology. In the future, I'll know my song well before i start singin. |

Its on my genre comp, dayanara. I'll bet you read the track listing and that triggered the memory. FWIW, that track is from the Cold Mountain soundtrack...it is a very haunting rendition - just fiddle and male vocal - Dirk Powell i think. Beautiful.
So, needless to say, if you were waiting around with five bucks in your hand waiting to buy my upcoming brochure Understanding Poop, you can put that five bucks away, 'cause it ain't happenin.

Best...post...ever.....
I hear songs in my head all the time, from waking to sleep. I also do this weird thing when I "hear" entire book passages in my head. Like I'll be moving along in my day and then I'll realize that I just "heard" three paragraphs from some novel I read five years ago. It is totally weird but it explains why I have absolutely no short-term memory.

That sounds like it should've been a scene in High Fidelity

Posted - 04/04/2005 : 08:02:09 I write songs when I´m dreaming and keep a notepad by my pillow, some hopeless, some I´m proud of. Yesterday I heard Dali tried sleeping with his finger in a cup of water with a spoon in it so when he was dreaming deep his finger would twitch and wake him up so he´d have the most interesting parts to draw from. Paul McCartney´s excuse for Yellow Submarine was he wrote it while halfasleep.
