Posted - 03/10/2005 : 17:31:59 I'm going to Boston next week. 17th-20th to visit some friends who go to Northeastern. It's my third time visiting them and I haven't really seen much of the city before when I went. I was curious if there is anything you guys suggest I should do or see while I'm there. Also, I know I'm not the most vocal person on the forum but if there are any forum members who reside in Boston and want to meet up for an oldschool fb.net sequential picture thread i'd be more than happy to. I assure you I'm not a serial killer.

If it ever stops snowing here I'm gonna march right over to city hall and put Floop in his place.

Posted - 03/11/2005 : 23:39:02 I'll not recant one destination but will a few others...
well, shows what I know of Boston! (i like fanueil b/c my first trip to B. with my grandparents we started there every day for our history walks so i'll stand behind that one).
recant--My last visit (last july) was mediocre, I went all the way to fenway, after 5 pm, to find everything closed. i was sorely disappointed...the damned all-star game (in which the AL gave up a ton of runs) was that week so no Sox games (ack!) I only had one really good dinner (that was a non-irish bar dinner) and the weather sucked.
but...I spent an entire day at the MFA and loved it. it was a great experience! I walked in and a lady was giving a tour so i joined in. funnily enough it was in Russian. but, having studied that in college, i could understand 2 words in 10! it was fun and I was very impressed with the museum.
be sure to drink on St. Pat's Day...in an Irish bar, of course. |

floop - latex-free aloe gloves, and i'll happily slap your face as many times as you'd like. frank was not born in california.

We will meet you at dawn in the woods behind the golf course. Be prepared. We will have the pistols.

Posted - 03/11/2005 : 15:11:31 Harvard Sq is cool. Although it is in Cambridge. There are a lot of good record stores there.
I like the Newbury Street area and the Back Bay in general. And Boston Common is pretty.

Posted - 03/11/2005 : 14:13:01 First off, congrats on making a trip to the town where Frank was born.
May I second what Atheist4Catholics advised? I've spent some time in Bean Town and you do not want to go to Faneuil Hall or Fenway when there's no game.
Newbury Street. Two thumbs-up. Newbury Comics a definite stop. Ditto the Boston Common. Ditto Harvard Square. The Coop is a good place if you wanna meander indoors and look at books and such.
It shouldn't be too difficult for you to have a great time; staying away from drunken throngs on St. Pat's is another story.

There were guys there that took the making of donuts entirely too seriously. |
