So - Not to get off the subject but I think these guys are really sweet. The newest album is average at best but the older stuff is fantaxtic. *Speaking of taxes I haven't done myne yet* Anyway - I hear these guys are huge fans of Frank B. If you haven't had a chance to check them out I seriously recommend it.

I think it's a superb album, I got it last week and have been pretty much rotating it and the arcade fire album, although some of the earlier stuff is more "hard" I know 'this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about' has had lots of (in my mind) justified pixies comparisons.

Yes I own it. It's pretty good yeah, but I suspect I may prefer some of their other albums even more, from what people tell me.

I think it's more the crowd down here that he had trouble with. Up there is a family love-in for him.

Hey HPM, and I thought *I* was paranoid -thanks for lookin out for me though, tiger. ;)

Haven't been there yet, Banned, but we've been meaning to check it out though. Almost went to the Unsane show there on New Year's eve but we both got sick. Won't be able to make it tonight, but we'll head out there sometime soon. re: disc live copy, email me.

Jesus - crowd up in here is rough.

I didn't know asking someone for drinks was hitting on them. I guess my game is a little off since I've been with the same person for about a 2 years now.

I was way in the back downstairs on the left hand side (if facing the stage).

You have it on disc? Any possible way you could burn it for me? I heard that they were thinking of taking a few good songs from the c-bus show and throwing on a disc for consumer sales.

Sorry for the offtopic, but I was at that show. Where were ya?

We were I think 7 rows back, in the orchestra section, and were accosted by a crazy screaming jumping asshat dude for about 7 songs worth, which made the show seem like it was 5 hours long.

By the way, I have the Disc Live of that show and it's exactly... 1 hour, 22 minutes, and 7 seconds. ;)

Ducats? Gold coins?

No doubt on the sound tip. For the Pixies show my ducats were all the way in the back and it sounded like 10th row seats.
Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 03/03/2005 : 09:13:50
Yeah the show I went to last year was over an hour for sure. About an hour and a half I think.

It doesn't matter anyway 'cos the quality is so much better than with Modest Mouse. That's not to say that Modest Mouse aren't good, just not in Pixies league.

Anyway - Elevator Lady, Hawkens right both those albums are sweet. I highly recommend Lonesome Crowded West. Its pretty raw.
Broken Face Posted - 03/03/2005 : 08:30:23
no, hour and a half is 90 minutes. and unless you were at a festival, or some sort of odd-non-headlining appearance, pretty much all the shows were around the 80-90 minute mark. i have a lot of the disclive/pixiediscs/bit torrents.

hmmmmmmmm.....

Don't know what show you went to but the one I saw was about 45 minutes long on there latest tour.

The shows I saw in the '80's were well over 90 minutes. Hour and a half = 90 minutes last time I looked...

Don't get me wrong, there songs were fantastic but give me a break, in the 80's they would stay on stage for at least a 1.5 to 2 hours.

thats bullshit - pixies sets were always short, and on this tour each set was around 90 minutes long. do your research before making a stupid comment.

Thanks Hawken, I'll do that.

Heard/read lots of interviews with Issac (lead singer/guitarist) and he has given a nod to the Pixies on several occasions. It isn't hard to hear that influence, but they definately have their own sound.

ElevatorLady - you should check out The Moon and Antartica...their most critically acclaimed album. Also, Lonsome Crowded West...their most rockin album.
