So - Not to get off the subject but I think these guys are really sweet. The newest album is average at best but the older stuff is fantaxtic. *Speaking of taxes I haven't done myne yet* Anyway - I hear these guys are huge fans of Frank B. If you haven't had a chance to check them out I seriously recommend it.

man, if i were headlining a tour i would play for at least an hour and a half, but probably two hours. I'd rock the shit out of everybody in the building just like frank does. And you know what else? I'd smoke a huge joint after each show. Not before. And you know what else? I'd start the gig on time, man. I wouldn't make my fans wait around for almost an hour before the set starts. I heard Modest Mouse did that too. What's the deal with that? There music is pretty good though. I got my hands on a copy of Baron Von Bullshit Rides Again. I guess it's pretty rare. Those guys have been playing for like ten years and they are just now getting popular. Interesting.

I hear they have 3 or 4 opening bands and it takes them until midnight or so to finally play on a work night and people who are getting a little older have a hard time staying stoked at midnight or so when they started drinking at 7......

I've seen them a few times and there set list were rather long. I would say at least 1 and half. The pixies show was way fuckin worse than that. I think there set lasted 45 minutes tops. Don't get me wrong, there songs were fantastic but give me a break, in the 80's they would stay on stage for at least a 1.5 to 2 hours.

I've seen Modest Mouse twice and they played long sets both times. And they sounded great both time also. They do play late and work hurts the next day....but thats the way it goes if you go to a rock show.

These shows were before their latest album and all the hype though...perhaps things have changed, but I sure hope not.

I don't think Baron Von Bullshit is very rare....it was a promo that they included with some copies of Good News....

Wanna hear some live Modest Mouse? You do! Cool check this out.

I love Good News For People Who Love Bad News. I just discovered Modest Mouse last month so I don't know any other stuff they've done but this one I just love. There is not a song in it that I don't like. And the chorus for Bury Me With It sounds kinda Pixie-ish, don't you think?

Heard/read lots of interviews with Issac (lead singer/guitarist) and he has given a nod to the Pixies on several occasions. It isn't hard to hear that influence, but they definately have their own sound.

ElevatorLady - you should check out The Moon and Antartica...their most critically acclaimed album. Also, Lonsome Crowded West...their most rockin album.

thats bullshit - pixies sets were always short, and on this tour each set was around 90 minutes long. do your research before making a stupid comment.

hmmmmmmmm.....

Don't know what show you went to but the one I saw was about 45 minutes long on there latest tour.

The shows I saw in the '80's were well over 90 minutes. Hour and a half = 90 minutes last time I looked...

no, hour and a half is 90 minutes. and unless you were at a festival, or some sort of odd-non-headlining appearance, pretty much all the shows were around the 80-90 minute mark. i have a lot of the disclive/pixiediscs/bit torrents.

Well - maybe, it just seemed like 45 minutes. I didn't have my stop watch on for the show. I had asked many people how long they thought the show was and they said 45 to 60 and that is what I assumed. C-bus OH. show.

Anyway - Elevator Lady, Hawkens right both those albums are sweet. I highly recommend Lonesome Crowded West. Its pretty raw.

Yeah the show I went to last year was over an hour for sure. About an hour and a half I think.

It doesn't matter anyway 'cos the quality is so much better than with Modest Mouse. That's not to say that Modest Mouse aren't good, just not in Pixies league.

No doubt on the sound tip. For the Pixies show my ducats were all the way in the back and it sounded like 10th row seats.

Sorry for the offtopic, but I was at that show. Where were ya?

We were I think 7 rows back, in the orchestra section, and were accosted by a crazy screaming jumping asshat dude for about 7 songs worth, which made the show seem like it was 5 hours long.

By the way, I have the Disc Live of that show and it's exactly... 1 hour, 22 minutes, and 7 seconds. ;)

I was way in the back downstairs on the left hand side (if facing the stage).

You have it on disc? Any possible way you could burn it for me? I heard that they were thinking of taking a few good songs from the c-bus show and throwing on a disc for consumer sales.

By the way.....I think I'm headed to the Ravari room for a few dollar drinks if you and a few friends feel like strolling that way.

Jesus - crowd up in here is rough.

I didn't know asking someone for drinks was hitting on them. I guess my game is a little off since I've been with the same person for about a 2 years now.

Haven't been there yet, Banned, but we've been meaning to check it out though. Almost went to the Unsane show there on New Year's eve but we both got sick. Won't be able to make it tonight, but we'll head out there sometime soon. re: disc live copy, email me.
