I heart Netflix. Now I need movie recommendations. The last best movie I got from them was YOU CAN COUNT ON ME, which was so good.

Anyone else have Netflix? We could add each other in the FRIENDS section...

To be fair, I have really liked the two David Lynch films I have seen, which is why I put it on in the end. I just wanted to know if it was worth keeping on my list.

I liked it, it's David Lynch so don't expect a linear plot/explaination of events. Watched Wolf Creek last night, 'twas a fairly decent little thriller. Was tempted to watch Apocalypto after, but it was getting late.

Minutemen: punk ethos, punk with jazz improv (that sounds terrible), politically active, fuck I can't describe music

rent the movie

Yep, just two nights ago. I really enjoyed it. I like a lot of things that Christian Bale does though. I alreay have Apocalypto and Zodiac on my list, but wasn't sure about Inland Empire. How good is it?

Darwin, I already know and love Curb, but I have never heard of We Jam Econo. Then again, I have never heard Minutemen. What do they sound like?

They should have a sub-division for wet T-shirt movies-Wetflix!

Merry Christmas!
darwin Posted - 12/29/2006 : 16:49:27
I've never had a DVD that I couldn't watch. A few needed some Windex and wiping.

But, you're right. No porn. I think the demand would be too high.
TRANSMARINE Posted - 12/29/2006 : 16:46:17
I'm getting fed up with NetFLIX...they don't rent porn, and 2 out of every 3 DVD I receive is damaged in some way. They are either cracked, totally broken (!) or unreadable due to poor condition. The past couple months I think I was able to view 4 movies in their entirety without a hassle. And they don't rent porn. Whatever happened to quality? WHATEVER HAPPENED WITH THIS??!!?

I have 24 films on my list already, I can't wait to start receiving them. The choice is amazing, over half of my list are foreign films that you would never get in a local video store.

I am open to recommendations, please.

Love, love, my season
Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 02/01/2005 : 16:30:29
I'm going with Amazon I think. I can only have 6 per month but I doubt I will be able to find more than that, that I really want to watch every month anyway. I do get to keep 3 at one time though, which is better than any other offers for that price, and I do tend to watch movies in spells.

And no I don't think I did...but I always forget about that account (gmail). I'll go check now. Did you know about the major security flaws in gmail by the way? I'm pretty reluctant to use it anymore. If you're curious I can look for that story link for you.

yeah, the selection isn't perfect, but they do add movies every week - so hopefully it will continue to improve.

apl4eris Posted - 01/27/2005 : 09:12:35
Yep, I am. I hope I wouldn't have gone hog-wild with that add button if not. ;) I was worried there wouldn't be a very good selection of independent, classic, and foreign movies, which are my favorite, but that is obviously not a problem. I'm at least set for most of this year.

Wouldn't mind some more obscure movies, but I ain't complainin', not after having to resort to Blockbuster and its now-clone Hollywood Video for the last 2 + years. Not complainin' at all.

Apl - are you going to continue doing netflix? if not, how do you plan on seeing 140+ movies in your trial month? i think it is totally worth the price if you watch a lot of movies - i try and watch 3 a week, and that makes it totally worth the 17 bucks.

I signed up for a similar deal here in the UK, www.qflicks.co.uk
You can get a month's free trial (such as I am partaking in) by going to www.qflicks.co.uk/metrolife and using the promo code MLQPAN9. I just watched the first of this month's 3 - The Evil Dead, loved it. I also got Miller's Crossing and The Man Who Wasn't There (mmm, good Coen...).

I'm not sure qflicks is the cheapest though, sounds like Blockbuster offers a better deal all round. But hey, this month at least, its free.

i know there are multiple copies, but i assume that sometimes they get backed up - right now both true romance and where the buffalo roam are both "long wait" for me, but in the past that has only meant a week or so.

as for recommending films they don't carry - i don't know. they've had just about everything i've looked for that i know is on dvd

Hey I'm doing a trial membership now. It'd be cool to add you guys, how's that done?

The first 3 sent out today were True Romance (saw this way too long ago!), Kurosawa: A Documentary, and Paris, Texas. I've already added 144 movies to my queue today! I like this a lot so far.

Sure it is. How could it not be? I love films so much. Not as much as music, but then nothing comes close to that. But yeah, I LOVE films!
