Given some recent personal stuff both on and off the board, i'm checking out for a little while. I am not starting this post to draw any attention, i just want the CD-traders and people i have current ticket transactions with to know that i will still be reading the boards and keeping up with the CD mixers and whatnot and that i will still be available via email. i really enjoy the board and will miss posting for the next few weeks (at least) but i don't want my frustration in this part or any part of my life to leak into my enjoyment of the board, so i'm taking a "posting hiatus." best of luck, talk to you guys in a little while i hope

Anyway, I've been away from the forum for a few days, so I missed what exactly happened with the Jon Tiven thread. I was able to fill in some of the blanks myself, but what's this about saying people's opinions don't matter, and that the Ellis Hooks thing was a joke?

Hello
Thank you all for your support. I have spoken privately with Mr. Tiven and we have mended our fences. I really didn't want this to turn into what it did, and so once again, i apologize to the over 4000 times people have opened the thread to get insider info that is no longer there because of what i indirectly started. I am still feeling quite guilty, but the encouragement of all of you, and especially Dean and Kathryn, who emailed me, i have decided to not be a baby about this and just continue to post. Thanks again guys, you're the best.

Jon Tiven is well-known as a hardass. Ask Alex Chilton what he thinks of Jon Tiven.
Personally I found the bickering fun to read, but I'm sick like that.
The insider info was also fun to read. But that's it, really. It was fun. We don't NEED it. And it was obvious from the start that the effort to jumpstart Ellis Hooks' CD sales thing wouldn't work out. It's not like tens of thousands of people follow this board. So I figured Tiven's days here were numbered anyway... |

Maybe he's reading this thread, because I think he took out at least one "the likes of you" from that last post. Remember Tre, we're not equals on this board. We ARE the little people. Jon said so himself. Think he'll edit his post again? I hope BrokenFace comes back just so he can see what this turned into and that it wasn't his fault at all. I find it all sad and amusing at the same time. |

actually, I will add ---risque maybe--- it was all very offencsive, and patronising, and the guy really has an overinflated sense of his own importance. I thought Monsieurs points were right on the money, and jumping around like pavlovs dogs for every tid bit of ---information of historical importance--- is a little demeaning. I avoided that thread from jontivens first post because I found it overtly condescending, and my temper is what it is. Updates and the like are great and it's all very interesting but there's no need to treat us like the little people

I just read his last post, it's plain cheek to suggest his posts are worth more than those of Broken Face's or Monsieurs, does he realise there's more to the forum than that little section, that there's even more to the forum than frank black, it's frank that unites us but here it's us that keeps us entertained.

Why is it such a big deal to get information before everyone else gets it? I mean, eventually everyone is going to know all these "precious, inside info facts" that people treat as if they're solid gold quesadillas.
The dude Jon is gone to make all of us feel like we are missing a great source for inside information, and yeah, we probably are missing out on a few facts we can't get anywhere else, but is that big of deal?

That said, I've always found you to be a reasonable and cool guy, so I have no doubt that what was said was fair and honest. In which case, it has as much right to be said as anything posted here, from Frnk Blck's quicky answers to floop's quesadilla/frozen pizza-based ramblings. Don't stay away too long.
