The school jock in george lucas's high school growing up had the last name of Vader. Since vader wasn't always Luke's father, its more likely that his childhood in Modesto, CA is where Vader came from. The dutch father word thing is just a coincidence.

what a digression!
but still in black and sci fic...

Isn't "Vader" a play on the German word for father?

Maybe the French translator didn't realize that, though.

It's Darth Vader in english and Dark Vador in french, for some reason.

he's signing stuff frank black, so i'm guessing he's still frank.

ok
on the back of the disclive cds, they write Frank Black... wouldn't he have prefer Black Francis when he's in the Pixies?
it's just a small detail...
...i also don't know if the correct name is Dark Vador or Darth Vador...another black man...
thankx!

To answer a different version of the first question, I call him Frank Black. Black Francis works too, but FB is my route. And I think he'd be fine with either.

Actually, for some odd reason, the man now wants to be known as Efrem the retarded rabbit. Go figure.

You could just call him "Mr. Thompson," I guess.

Chances are you wont be talking to him, and even if you did, you'd call him neither....and I doubt you'll be speaking to someone and you'll say, 'hey you know frank black'--'i think you mean black francis...' .... but in answer to your question, i think he prefers if we address him as "El Capitan".
