The chorus instantly reminded me of Dylan's "If Not For You" -maybe because I know Dylan is an influence on Mr. Black, or possibly because the lyrics have more than one similarity between them (then again, how many times have you and blue and true been rhymed). The ending of this song is one of the best on the album with that sweet roll of the drums to cap things off. I get the feeling of an apocalypse versus dawn of time/origin of species in the words. And that line: "Now you're the smoke and I'm the lung" rocks. |

Frank definitely goes for a classic songwriting style on some of FMRM's tracks, and pulls it off wonderfully; not just with the instruments, but vocally, too.
