Posted - 04/10/2005 : 21:48:44 Yet another '100, 50, or 10 greatest something or other on C4. Didn't they already have a top 100 albums, maybe that was of the century? Anyway Frank is in the ad for it, so he must have abit to say. The Pixies have featured in these types of programmes before, so now with their comeback they'll get the proper plaudits they deservse, well I'm assuming he's on for the Pixies, but Teenager would be in my top ten at least. I hate these type of shows but I have to watch it for The Man, it's on Sunday, on Channel 4, check listings as times may vary!

I DVDed it! not great quality though, cause it was so long and i had other things to record too. i need to watch it first (or at least the bits i'm interested in) but after that i'll see if i can't get some clips up on the internet. frank black/pixies clips i presume you're interested in? (and others?)
dvd+rw now formatted.

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 15:46:39 I not a fan of rolling stone mag, but the pixies were in there top 100 albums of all time! Somewhere in the 80's i believe. the issues came out a little over a year ago. |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 15:43:42 I don't know if he had anything else to say on the programme after the Doolittle segment as I didn't really pay much attention to it after that, but he got a word in about Talking Heads being the only "arty band to make it big". Is he a big fan? Anyway it should have just been him and Brian Wilson talking about all those albums, that would have been great!

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 14:44:07 I saw some of the top twenty last night, my sister taped of the rest of the program, so I did get to see Frank-what did they say about Doolittle? I can't beleive Oasis' Definetly Maybe got ahead of Sgt. Pepper-maybe that's a sign of the times! By the way, if anyone has a DVD recorder and recorded it, then maybe you could arrange for forum folks in other parts of the world to get a copy, I don't know about the region coding on recordable DVD. |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 14:23:50 Queen-A Night at the Opera on 13?
Bohemian Rhapsody is great but I dare to say that every other 70's album from Queen (minus Jazz/Live Killers) is better than that one. Number one on the list of overated albums. Queen II should have been the one that made it up to n.13
actually Pet sounds should have been in the top 5 SMiLE should have been there too

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 07:47:24 yes i can't believe "The Verve's 'Urban Hymns' at number 18."... But I thought it was a good touch that nobody said anything about it, just cut to no. 17. Utter rubbish, the verve my arse..... anyways, I thought "the queen is dead" would be higher, it should have been too.... and no television "marquee moon", bloody ridiculous... Where is "Loveless" by MBV..... but then again it was as voted by U the viewer, so its quite a thing to get a pixies album in the top 100 really.. well done.. just shows how there are more and more people getting turn on to the pixies..... and albums that are less than 3 or 4 years old should be excluded... most of that shite will be forgotten about completely, like whose gonna vote for coldplay parachutes in 20 years time... ridiculous....

Yeah, it is a brilliant album, and so nice to see a song from our (my) generation recognised above all others Idioteque is one of the best songs i've ever heard performed live, and the song Kid A is one of my all time faves for it's beauty.
but Pet Sounds.....33?.....that's not on.
you know what, to momentarily highjack the thread, I adore Kid A and it seems to be the least well recieved, I saw radiohead on the OK computer tour and they rocked started with airbag and filled the room with noise from the begin, the only time the room went deathly quiet was for exit music... saw them a few years later just before (or around) the release of Kid A and they blew themselves out of the water. Superb, you're right, Idioteque live is awesome. But, Morning Bell, gets me every time...
Thanks for that link holiday son, I'm going to re-digest the list now (it's something to do)

Posted - 04/17/2005 : 16:09:22 It's not the best choice no, but overall I guess I'm pleased because it is a great album, they are an excellent band and I was really surprised. Really surprised it wasn't queen/the beatles, really pleased it wasn't nevermind, and thankful it wasn't something that would make me throw things at the television.
