I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information concerning the two Oddballs releases. I looked through the 4 pages of topics in this forum and the discography here.

Seems that I've read somewhere that the 14 track Oddballs was an official release available to members of Frank's fan Club (?). Is that correct.

And, what about the 26 track Oddballs. From the looks of the packaging that mine came in, it is not an official release. Was there ever an official release of the 26 track Oddballs?

They are incredible additions to my collection and I am thoroughly enjoying them.

Yep. Just a few random b-sides included, like Pan_Am and Big Hurt and Sleep etc. Definately worth a purchase if you don't do singles.
shineoftheever Posted - 05/16/2007 : 10:24:47
so are the songs on the 26-track oddballs the same as 14-tracker with bonus tracks?

I don't wonder what my FB singles are worth. And now JEB74's melted my heart with an LA invite I couldn't possibly mug him. Oddballs my turn will come.

Well, I started the auction at $30. We'll see what happens. I've been having some good luck on eBay recently. I sold a steinberger for double what I paid for it a few months ago. It's good cause between the IRS and preparing to move cross country I'll take anything I can get!

There's only one Amazon seller offering it. Looking at that guy's other items up for sale, he puts inflated prices on just about everything. Maybe when no one else is offering something he is, he slaps some random high price on it.
fbc Posted - 04/23/2007 : 10:40:23
Then one thousand it is.

Good luck with the sale, It would be great if you could hit near the $70 mark.
Atheist4Catholics Posted - 04/23/2007 : 10:31:18
I have a copy to sell. Mine says "one of a limited edition of one thousand"

$70 is pretty steep, even for some Frank Black tuneage. I've seen it floating around for a (£)tenner.
Isn't it a limited edition release, only 200/2000 printed (something like that)?

Give it a few decades and the price will be justified.

that's insane, that single was widely avaible in holland.

Ha! Ebay auction play by play. I love it!

I'm glad the CD is going to a good home. I'm sorry I didn't have a copy for everyone.

Hey jeb74, I'm sending you a free copy of my own CD along with Oddballs as a sort of thank you gift. Enjoy!

you gotta admire the guy, waiting a year, spending all that money and then coming on the forum and bragging about it.

Sorry KFS, but I have been waiting for that CD to come available on Ebay again about a year since the last time I saw one. Besides what's $70 spent on your favorite artist? Man, who has not dropped $70 or more at a bar or the Casino? Anyways thanks Tim, she'll get a good home. PS - Tro come out to California and we'll spin the disc and have a beer.

11 minutes left ... I'm so tempted to up the bid from its current $70 to, say, $95 to see if JEB-74 will go even higher. Not that I want the CD, but messing with auctions is fun.

Then again, if I ended up owning it for $95, I wonder if I could later sell it for $125. Hmmm ...

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

I guess I'm gonna give up. I am glad that he'll have to pay that much more now though (since I can't have it)!

Jeez, it was $46 when I looked a half-hour ago. I guess it's going up more quickly now because the auction ends in five hours.

kfs Posted - 04/20/2007 : 06:10:02
This Oddballs CD is currently going for $66.50 to JEB74.
That's just CRAZY!

I consider a signed original SSMVGD record to be priceless in the Land of Frank, and Oddballs not far behind. In the Land of the Living, I can imagine more people bidding for it than say an unsigned one. A mini bidding war between, say, 10+ people?

I know you're not selling, but what you would get for it would not match the loss you'll feel some years later.
lumpy Posted - 04/18/2007 : 12:24:35
How much value does it add if the CD is signed by the artist? I took my Oddballs (no pun intended) to a full band show last year to get it signed by Frank, and not like I'm planning on selling it, but how valuable do you guys think it is now?
kelladwella Posted - 04/17/2007 : 00:52:14
Well, I would be!

I'm still mad about chickening out of an ebay-auction at 30,-€ or so. The next bidder got it then...

Definitely. Oddballs Baby is better than Cult of Ray Baby.

I've seen Oddballs in stores several times. Next time I spot it I'll buy a copy and let you guys know, if someone's interested.

I've got way too many CDs and need to purge. Some of my collector's items I'm keeping, some I'm not. I never listen to Oddballs and thought someone else would get more use out of it. I realize that the auction is going to get up there in price, but thought I should mention its availability here.

I hope I can make this kind of scratch on my Everything is New CD!

Is it worth hanging on to a CD you don't use just because it's a collector's item? Not to me. I'd rather use that money to buy more music.

The first time I ever heard about Oddballs was when DITS came out, back in early 2001. There was a little card inside that announced its existence to me. I ordered it off the WAR website immediately. It was really cool to be able to instantly collect a lot of the b-sides I didn't have yet. With my purchase I also received a CD sampler of other WAR artists--the two Frank songs on the disc are "St. Francis Dam Disaster" and "Bullet."

Oddballs is worth having just for the bassier mix of "Baby That's Art" alone. I prefer it to the original mix--and it's longer to boot.

Does anybody have the tracklist for the unofficial 26 track version? I'm pretty sure I've got everything but I'm kinda curious what's on there.
coastline Posted - 04/13/2007 : 12:47:32
Nice. This is like Bluefinger. Leak the idea to fb.net, and then watch demand soar. This copy of Oddballs is going to make $100 on eBay.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
