As Thompson states in the liner notes, there are concerns with the quality of his early demos as well as his perceived reaction to the re-recording of classic Pixies tunes: some might feel that Thompson’s new versions may misrepresent his band to a new audience. But regardless, the Pixies’ charming brand of pop stands strong on both of Frank Black Francis’ discs.
