Just wanted to update anyone wondering what was going on at the Independent tonight, it was just Frank. All accoustic, and he was in great form. Really good show. 9 pixies songs. In no particular order, Holiday Song, nimrod's Son, Caribou, bone Machine, Wave of Mutilation, Monkey gone to heaven, Tame, Mr. grieves and Velouria. Lots of the newest Frank stuff. At first he was chatty. Joked about having so many new friends since the band is back together. After that, just ripped through a two hour set. good night!

I like that recording of Frank's London solo show in 2000. It's very exiciting to hear.

Do you think it's possible that "Atom In My Heart" could be the song on Frank's new album called "Atom in My Heart"?

I have that same model of guitar, signed by the man himself, and I wouldn't part with it for love nor money. Mines far more beat up though, it's been bashed against almost every piece of furniture in my house as I'm always carrying it from room to room.

RASPY BANSHEE SCREAM.
-thanks for tagging a classic sound with a proper description,
i'm not sure that i've ever put it that way but i like it that way.

now is the time

Thanks for the Kudos on the pics. I took 147 in all. About half ended up in focus. I posted the best of them.

Cheers,

Hey, you musta bee standing right behind me, 'cause the bad dancin Palace of the Brine yellin guy was standing directly to me right.

Also of note, Eric Drew Feldman was at the show, just hanging out in the crowd. I was about to say something to him, 'cause he looked kinda lonely by himself. But then some friends of his showed up and he started talking to them.

Also of note, damn nice show. Several Pixies songs that I had never heard him do acousticly. Only dissapointment: No Los Angeles.

The opener's voice was good (kind of Siouxsie-ish)but she
only seemed to know 3 (minor) chords on her guitar.
I head the guy yelling palace of the brin but there was
somebody else yelling for speedie marie.

yea my memories are the same of the crowd- suprised in a good way that people were into the show and appreciating fb solo

definately made up for the cobbs one

and thanks for posting the setlist and photos

I do hope someone was taping or it will be featured in the possible documentary- one of the best frank solo shows I've seen in a long time
onegoodstuff Posted - 03/11/2004 : 16:18:56
I thought the crowd was pretty solid. Only recall one guy yelling out Pixies songs early in the set, with others yelling out older FB solo stuff. I could be remembering wrong, now that it's three days later, but I definitely remember being pleased that people were simply enjoying a great FB show.

Possible proof that EDF will be joining the Pixies on tour...?

As for Frank's show, it's pretty irritating that half the people there were only there based on the reunion news, but of course that was going to happen. Did they at least not pester the man about it?

I thought Rykarda Parasol was pretty good. Kinda PJ Harvey-esque, with a deep, growling voice booming out of a tiny body. It was just her with a guitar and another woman on bass. Said she'd be at SXSW in Austin with her full band if anyone's gonna be down there to check it out.

Always a pleasure to see the man on form.

So did anyone see the opener Rykarda Parasol? Any good? What kind of music? I'm assuming they were handpicked by FB since he doesn't always have an opener.

Wow, that set list is awesome. I'm mad jealous of anyone who was at this show.

Totally sick! Caribou was just ridculous! I think its funny that the show sold out so quick only cause the P's are coming back... Fair weather friends, indeed. It commands so much hype, every FB shwo I have seen in the past was so mellow getting tix, I had to pull some strings and get Guest Listed for this one!... when just last year at Johnny Foley's Cellar in SF, we bought tix the day of and sat in the front row!!!

You lucky bastards....I'd like to see FB right now!!! just before the Pixies reunion, especially playing Adda Lee and Space is gonna do me good.

I wonder if the Pixies will play any FB stuff...

Have some wine, please, don't run away.

Phew! I was worried that he might be leaving out those screams of his, they were definitely few and far between on the FB&C albums. I'd love to hear that screaming back when he tours with the Pixies.
