Contacted the guys at the Urban Lounge, who claim they have no problem with me recording the performance. Am excited about that. Will be happy to offer it here in a lossless format (unless it is completely crap).

Ordered my tickets hoy dia. Anyone else plan to be there? Frank?

By the way, I am super paranoid--and sometimes almost certain--that the show will be cancelled. But see, by typing this, I create a conundrum for the hands of fate. Ha-ha! Stupid hands with non-opposable thumbs. Ah-ha-ha!

Thank you, Ed! Wow, I really don't remember the crowd talking *that* much. Perhaps the combination of being up front and being a master at tuning people out was to my advantage. Regardless, many thanks for putting this up! I'm listening back to it now and find myself tuning the crowd right out once again. :)

Those are really great pictures! Frank looks extra cool! It is just so wrong that people were being so rude during this show.

Black and white is a fine choice; I particularly love the pic of Frank that fbc has highlighted. Really captures the energy of a performance.
versionke Posted - 08/11/2006 : 06:24:16
Thank you all for the compliments on the photos. I look forward to seeing everyone else's photos from the rest of the tour.

it's so good to see a picture like this without it being accompanied by a Pixies article

Anyone can see the brand of his sunglasses? They're too cool and I need some.
That pic where he's holding the mike is priceless. Add sideburns and you got Elvis in '72.

Good job. From this I see the immense value of a point blank placement like yours:

Do not, repeat, not download my recording of this (TBA). Your head will spin around and around. Mine does, anyway.

I was very surprised that he did not play more FM/RM songs. The people I brought with me wanted to hear the songs from the new album I played for them on the way to the show.

The setlist doesn't surprise me. After the SF shows and the interview in the podcast, I got the feeling he was going to play songs from all over his post-pixies career including new unreleased songs.

People talking thru shows sucks ass. More whiskey helps me through it, but it shouldn't have to come to that...

EDIT: oh thanks ed for the setlist and summary.

Last time i saw FB acoustic, there was a kid (who used to post on here, forget his name) screaming the lyrics and drumming on his legs for songs like "The Swimmer" which don't really lend themselves to acoustic singalongs. That was annoying as shit...if someone does that at the shows next week in NY, heads will roll...

There's a lovely version of 'Superabound', with EDF on piano, from the aforementioned Café du Nord boot.
chipahoyboy Posted - 08/10/2006 : 14:11:49
I can't believe he played Superabound!?!

That's not one he usually plays even with the C's is it? Hopefully I'll hear the acoustic version in Indy for myself on Sun!
