in the spirt of arbitrary rivalry, i'm coming forward to say that i think Spokane is going to KICK SASKATOON'S ASS!!!

i think if the two cities went head to head, in hand to hand combat (or battle royale style wrestling) there would be no contest.

look at their mascots..

Spokane's mascot: the Indian. austere, warrior-like, regal..

Saskatoon's mascot, "Saskie", a pathetic Barney-like figure who looks like it needs help standing up.

i rest my case.

Heh heh, good work, DB. You won't regret the Saskatoon show. The Spokane one on the other hand... :)

I was sitting here in Australia two nights ago reading that disclive had released left over copies of several gigs and was finding it difficult to decide which two to purchase. After reading through many reviews I decided on Saskatoon and Spokane.

And now I'm so glad that I did!! I will be thinking of Kramer whilst listening too. :-))

I have never been to Saskatoon. However, I grew up in Seattle and I can confirm that Spokane does suck. Maybe it's just varying degrees of suckage?

Of course, you guys did get two more songs than us... tough call.

i think based on the number of songs alone, Spokane wins. hands down.

Sorry Saskatoon. but you must admit, humiliating ass-kicking was inevitable. you took it well.

They're just the warm-up karate team. The full team comes out once the roadies have adjusted their belts and uniforms properly.

yes. yes indeed. you've certainly proved that point. no one is going to argue with you about that.

even you would have to admit though that Saskie would probably not fare as well remaining standing. either on a ship, or in hand-to-hand combat with a regal Indian.

on topic though.. i'm curious to hear from citizens of Saskatoon. i mean, what does that feel like? knowing that all odds are against you, that no one believes in you, and that there's absolutely nothing you can do prevent the impending humiliation and shame of defeat.

i've never been in that position and i'm just curious what it's like, from a losers perspective.
floop Posted - 04/18/2004 : 14:49:31
BLT - my sincere apologies. i'm sorry if what i said came across as sounding that way. i never meant to imply that all mascots are pathetic, nor that most of them often have drinking problems. that would be an unfair, sweeping generalization.

i can only hope you'll accept my apolgy.
BLT Posted - 04/17/2004 : 15:16:15
floop, what makes you a racist is your accusation that mascots are "pathetic" and "need help standing up". I work part-time inside a mascot suit on a prominent cruise line between Los Angeles and Acapulco, and only occasionally do I require assistance in maintaining an erect posture. Your comments are inflammatory, egregious, and preposterous. I demand an apology immediately.

Sincerely,

BLT

WTF. Saskatoon has way tougher Indians, than that pathetic wannabe, you got riding that horse.
Saskie indians Drink lysol and hairspray. eat salt and vinigar chips giving them super strength and cat like agility. And they know the lyrics to any AC/DC song!!!!
ples the saskatoon blades can kick the crap outta the spokane chiefs anyday!

Oh, Davis would get absolutely destroyed by Boise. We're just a bunch co-op shopping, bike riding, frog saving lefties. Those people in Boise have shotguns.
astrocat Posted - 04/16/2004 : 23:05:57
Okay, the real question is:
Who is going to kick more ass...
Thursday Vancouver or Friday Vancouver?????
What's Vancouver's mascot?
Do they have daily mascots?

"regal" is quite insulting as well. i think any person, or group of people, would be offended by such a term. i apologize if you were offended by that as well Cult (having a bit of native in you)
floop Posted - 04/16/2004 : 14:43:18
fact: Spokane has a mascot called the "Indian"

fact: Saskatoon has a mascot called "Saskie"

both are fictional characters who represent their respective cities

simple question: if you took these two characters. - 1.) a physically fit, horse-riding gentlemen with a bow and arrow and 2.) a drunken guy in a bear suit with a funny hat - put them in a ring together for a no-holds barred wrestling extravaganza, who do you think would win?

Sorry about the multiple posts . . .

Cult,
Read the description accompanying the photo. You don't see anything racialist, stereotypical, or possibly inflammatory about those words? Well, obviously you don't have any familiarity with the cultures of the native inhabitants of North America. Or maybe you're from floop's school of thought. Or maybe Canadians just view "Indians" that way. I don't know . . . I thought it was much worse than anything else I've seen on this board.

what's racist about stating the fact that Spokane is going to KICK THE SHIIIIIT OUT OF SASKATOON!!!!! ??
