Anyone else stoked for this? My Apple TV is going to get some heavy use out of this one. I think you can watch it free on either itunes or with any apple device.

I didn't see a post about it yet - apologies if someone already put this up somewhere.

The full 1080p HD recording is available on the net as well.
I nabbed it last night - 5.5GB.
haven't put it up on the 50" plasma yet, but am looking forward to giving it a spin.

thanks Hammerhands!! - I couldn't come up with the magical combination of search words to find them for some reason

I knew somebody here could help me out -

and they are available to an average Joe like me - just have to sorta explain to the little lady that the trip to Mexico is postponed that's all......

Just watched it been busy. Well worth the wait good stuff.
ricj Posted - 09/29/2013 : 08:47:49
The HD was so good that I almost immediately noticed the in ears had a TINY pixies logo on them!
hammerhands Posted - 09/29/2013 : 06:16:52
They will be known as in-ear monitors. I'm not sure of the brand, let me Google.

The Pixies are on this list:
http://www.jhaudio.com/about/client-list

First hit, they are custom molded. [@theactualpixies]
https://mobile.twitter.com/theactualpixies/status/359796375434706945

You can get them customized

And they are expensive!

These look similar.

They were not using in-ears in 2004

That's all for now.

the show is great great great - love it!

I was wondering - does anybody know anything about those headphone they're all wearing? I'm intrigued. I've never seen any like those before and they look like they must be good. Anybody know what they're called, what they're like, and whether a regular Joe like myself could get some?

I just watched the full, HD as f*ck performance on youtube. What a show..!

I completely and totally lost interest in the Pixies years ago when it became apparent that they had become the worlds number one Pixies tribute band but it's like watching a whole new band now. They seem totally revitalised and interested and into it again. I love the new Kim, she does maybe mosh a bit too much but she brings a whole new energy to the band. Her vocals aren't always perfect but still perfectly good and her playing is spot on. And Frank.. My god, I can't remember the last time I saw him that into playing a Pixies show.
ricj Posted - 09/27/2013 : 00:43:22
Listening to the youtube audio and I'm only a few songs in but they sound amazing.. Kim's vocal sound fine to me (so far)
natenate101 Posted - 09/26/2013 : 20:55:01
Very cool, love hearing them so energetic and the extra mustard they put on the live stuff. Joey is a complete badass, period. Dave stuck out too. Not sold on Kim's vocals but she can play. Happy for the band that things are going so well.

Fantastic. Best Frank's voice has sounded in ages. He's going for it right now.

Fun watch--very similar to the Brooklyn show my wife and I went to. Not trying to start "trouble" (I like a lot of the new stuff and it's better that they're performing rather than not), but am I the only one that thinks that Frank and Kim's voices don't blend that well? I hear a lot of pitchy-ness in the melodic sections of songs. Pretty evident in this performance because Kim's vox are mixed so high. At the Brooklyn show, like a lot of the youtube clips, her voice is mixed relatively low. Anyone experience or notice the same thing? Or are my ears just getting old?

watching it on my phone with headphones. sound and vid is awesome!

We can still stream it, don't know how long it will be up. Sadly, it still skips like mad on my laptop.

holy schnikes! awesome gig! band is sounding great! i hope someone manages to capture the vid. cool that you could hear a little of kim's "growl" coming out on a few of the songs. hope she brings it more to the forefront. i'm excited about the "new" pixies!

A great thing about Kim Shattuck is that she's a seasoned musician in her own right--been in bands and making records for as long as Frank has--so she confidently brings her own energy to the band. She's not a Kim Deal stand-in. She's Kim Shattuck. She's her own person. And she's having a great time. You can tell.

Really hope I get to see this band on a more wide US tour.
yarbles Posted - 09/25/2013 : 19:20:42
I love old Kim, but I love new Kim too. Love her energy and overall positive vibe she brings to the band. But can you blame her? I mean, wouldn't you be just out of your mind crazy happy if you got to be in the Pixies?!?! It must feel like a dream for her.

Fantastic. Benji - I agree, it's good to hear them experimenting with the arrangements.

While I would have liked to hear a hi res version of some of the unreleased stuff (Hexe, Greens and Blues), it's probably a smart move on their part not to have high quality versions of unreleased stuff widely available if they want to keep the suspense up for the next EP.

watching it now. a very good gig by the looks/sounds of it.
had to install itunes to see it, so it better be good!
quite a slow tempo beginning. played quite a few slow songs at the beginning.
get more uptempo though. nothing wrong with that.

i like how they're not just playing the songs as on the albums these days - they're playing round with the arrangements just a little.
haven't really done that much before - slowing own the tempo of nimrod's son, vamos (which has always changed) and drawing out the endings of gigantic and where is my mind are about the only one's I can remember them doing as the pixies before.
keeping it all fresh, which must be part of the challenge for them as well.

all i can say, thank god for polio! brian
