I wrote a poem the night after about the whole thing-- I just wanted to capture the moment :) The spacing is messed up... but you get the idea.

In Heaven

in clouds
above the ground
last night was amazing
i am still in heaven

replaying the moments
with random abstraction
real player

man, anything for a copy
of that streaming, screaming video

mojo rising

green lights
go… go… go
first few chords

orange shirt
tall trees
oh my god

all taking stage stations

David

Kim
Joey

&

Frank
Black
Black Frances

AKA
Charles Kitterage Thompson IV

a guitar
beat
bass
it’s building
and growing
and rising

unleashed
a scream

i am there
…..so there
but
still
here

clear audio feed
the sounds so layered
so crisp
so watery
so alive
yet unreal

the best
getting better
and better

wish, just wish,
a hundred times
a million times
to see them

by then
me-- punk rock granny
leather jacket
painted
pins
combat boots
no moshing

o bay bee

it's heaven
and i'm in it

I've used Streambox VCR to capture video off the web (that you weren't supposed "to be allowed" to capture). v1.0 was noted as "illegal" in the US but v2.0 is available for download on the following page and there doesn't seem to be any illegality mentioned (I'm not sure if that means it doesn't do the same things as v1.0 or not). Anyway, here's the link to a page that also includes other video-capture software (you have to register on the site to download, the file is about 4MB):

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_capture_tools/

Was anyone able to capture the show? I didn't know about it or I would've tried.

Just for future reference, what applications can one use to record streaming video? I would've recorded this if I could've.

Very cool reading all your reactions, i couldn't get it to play in Firefox, so i gave up..should have tried in IE.

A BT of the show would be cool. ;)

Last night i enjoyed how they put that little instrumental part of River Euphrates back into the song, and thrown it into the middle was classy, one of my favourites from the night.

show was great. we were there. I have some pix, but it was so crowded so early...they are not from very closes in terms of pix from my camera. I'll try and post em soon anyway.

The crowd didn't get mad, but come on, a one hour show (60 minutes almost to the minute)just ain't enough, and we were ALL hoping they'd come back on, and so a little disappointed. They didn't run late at all... but don't think they had much luxury of time to run over. The festival was ending. Though Trey Anastacio ( I think) was still jamming on the opposite stage when the Pixies stopped. No matter... a great show. No banter, no crap, just the tunes, one after another. Joey was great. Can't wait to see em in Houston next month.

radiator song sung by Kim was a trip.

My computer programmer friend got the whole thing, don't tell anyone... video and audio? jealous yet?

1. Bone Machine
2. Levitate Me
3. Caribou
4. Cactus
5. Subbacultcha
6. River Euphrates
7. U-Mass
8. Wave of Mutilation (fast version)
9. Cracickty Jones
10. Isla de Encanta
11. Broken Face
12. Hey
13. Monkey Gone to Heaven
14. Gouge Away
15. Dead
16. Debaser
17. Velouria
18. Gigantic
19. In Heaven (Kim)
20. Where is My Mind
21. Vamos a Jugar por la Playa

No breaks at all, maybe 60 seconds all in all of stoppage time. Some crazy compression shit on the instrumental part of Gouge Away, and some unique vocal stylizations

Dead was amazing, Chucky got on it, so to speak.

Kim sang In Heaven

Very tight and solid performance, really accomplished their goal.

Coolest thing I’ve witnessed, very cool.

Could hear crowd sing along with Hey and Debaser.

Frank said something after Where is My Mind and before Vamos, 21., I couldn’t make it out, and that is for you who captured the audio…maybe me too… I see

Drumstick solo by Joey, very cool

Guitar Stand Guitar Solo, off the hook, so to speak

Joey is one of a kind, wow! He is so creative and eerily melodic. Much emotion in guitar sound, pedal solo, drumstick solo, and guitar stand solo. Wow.!

Frank Used Takamine for songs 19-21

Joey did what the Gunn Himself could never have done, musically assault and shred my brain with a guitar the way he did, the Gunn I am sure was humbled. Hahahhaha

People clapped along with the rhythm of the instrumental part of Vamos.

“Thanks. Goodnight.” Waving, crowd going crazy, focus on Kim smiles out the ying-yang, , crowd louder and louder, Encore?

Nope.

Enough said.

22:28-23:05 Pleading for Encore, no Encore, no Blame

Band Waves and walks off stage

Dude comes out and says end of show

Boos are heard

No claps for that announcement

22:53:48

Buzz

Black screen

My computer programmer captured the whole thing video and audio in 99 MB, and it plays in Win amp and Media Player

Aren’t I Lucky.

I really enjoyed the show.

It made me cry because I started thinking about Venus during Velouria and the next 2 songs.

That was awesome, very, very motherfucking cool.

Yeah, it fucking was cool, very fuckin cool.

Good Show!

i was there and it was amazing. i was very surprised at no encore; everyone was screaming for it. i caught the setlist, and some girl offered me $50 for it. i also videotaped it, so if no one was able to capture the stream, there is at least that.

I used the same program that Mr. and Mrs. Eris used, and had the same results. I had been testing it during the Neville Bros. performance and with each successive attempt my results were becoming better. When I tried to do the Pixies though, I got the same error message. I'll get in line for that copy too if you don't mind.

SpudBoy Posted - 09/18/2004 : 20:20:20
So after reading the manual, the text is normal, the screen blackness is due to the options in media player being set to use hardware accelleration. should have still gotten the audio, but I guess the fates are out to get me. I figured this was a longshot, seeing as I had just installed the app, and hit "record" seconds after they hit the stage. I'll get in line for someone else's copy.

Yeah, I laughed pretty hard when the crowd turned ugly on a dime.

They went 15 minutes over I think. Maybe that's why no encore?

Gee that was loverly!

Great show! No encore, but oh well. Please tell me someone recorded the stream! Anyone?

And if you did, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PUT IT UP ON bt.easytree.org or www.sharingthegroove.org as soon as it starts working again (which is looking like never, but they say it will be back up sometime).

CRAP!!!! someone please say they recorded it...I just NOW tuned in to see them standing for NO encore....so for the 22 seconds I saw, it was awesome and reminded me of coachella...anyone???

anyone?:)
dayanara Posted - 09/18/2004 : 20:02:37
Dude, no encore? That's just wrong. I still think either Frank's guitar was turned up too loud or everyone else was just too soft. I loved the laughing while singing during the Isla fuckup, that was great. They seemed like they were having a good time. Only three more weeks till I get to see it in person!
apl4eris Posted - 09/18/2004 : 20:02:29
I think we managed to capture it <fingers crossed> 738 MB!

Too bad about the hitches in the video feed on Velouria and Vamos. Anyone else get those?
