Yes, sooner or later we'll have a topic on it anyway

- During a BBC interview FB mentions a new recording session in Londen in the fall.

- On October 7th Pixies share a rehearsal of Motoroller for Later With Jools Holland. Meaning that they are in the UK this month. Zombies-tour will not start for a month

"Notably, The Night the Zombies Came sounds at ease, the work of a band with plenty left to say (indeed, both Thompson and Santiago confirm that they’ve already started work on a follow-up)."

I'm sure he will do that eventually
But my bet would be trying out material for LP10

If he is doing FB shows maybe he could release a new FB album in between 2.0s

Hm, I wonder if there will be a second session for LP10, or whether Charles is plotting something new? My bet would be the former.

And Frank has some solo shows in New England in december, Guilford Sound is close by

Appears to be an original song called 'Au Revoir'

One of the songs Frank liked from the demo's, but did not do during the Doggerel-sessions, that they tried to record in Wales. Bluesy, stomper song, "I enjoyed it as an acoustic demo" [...] they tried to make it bigger, better and louder, but "in the end it was just too loud", "too much information". It didn't work out, it was failure, "thank god we didn't release this because we were in a rush"
(interview on Raised on Radio)

- Joey brought some songs to the table again (working titles Howie's Garage, I hear you mary, Taking care of bid'ness, according to Uncut interview). They recorded three ideas in Rockfield (according to Under the Radar interview), maybe those three?

- Paz recorded two songs for it (according to BF in French interview)

- Frank to SPIN: [On Doggerel] "I think that’s one more writing collaboration than has appeared on any other disc in the Pixies catalog. I imagine there will be much more collaboration forthcoming. I sense it.”

- Session in Wales didn't go that well, acording to FBF in Ultimate Music Guide :
"I was not in a good mood for lots of reasons"
I was very frustrated because now Mr Fucking Producer wants to work on all the fucking artsy-fartsy scraps from the margin. I got all these 40 fucking songs I wrote, for once in my life I do my homework............Now I show up with the goods and they're like [] these werid little things that you didn't intend over here bla bla
[ ]
I threw my notebook on top of the roof [..] I threw about three temper tantrums in about eight days

- Joey in Under the Radar:
"we have recorded so far about seven or eight demos for the next album. There will be a ninth album, we’re planning that already. After a good amount of a break, we will start recording again some time next year. We’re already kicking around what part of the world to work and record in next time"

I'm still bummed that O Little Cloud hasn't made it on to any album. That's partly my frustration at the recent releases where songs like Pagan Man and I Hear you Mary are included.

Okay, it's only music, it's only rock and roll and in the grand scheme of things it's a minor thing. I'm glad they are still relevant and Charles is getting the kudos he deserves and people enjoy it.

+1 re: o Little Cloud. A magnificent song

Makes sense that 'I Hear You Mary' was recorded (at least first) at Rockfield considering the lyrics are inspired by the countryside and the nearest town.

I think Oyster Beds also originates from the 2022 session too.

Wondered if Ernest Evans was the "bluesy stomper" too (albeit rerecorded).

Why do you think Oyster Beds is from the earlier session?
billgoodman Posted - 10/26/2024 : 21:59:49
Yeah, could be Ernest Evans.

I know we're just getting to grip with Zombies but no harm collating future album talk from the spate of recent interviews. This from Fret

FretBuzz: Do you have songs left over from the Zombies session that might find their way onto your next album? Or are you not even thinking that far ahead?

Santiago: We have some songs. We also have other ones from previous records that didn’t make sense at the time. So we have stuff that we might come back to.

FretBuzz: Do you often use material from past sessions on new albums?

Santiago: Not really. Maybe two of them will weasel their way into the mix of new songs we’re working on. But we’ll see. We have enough of the other ones to revisit, but they might not make it again. Sometimes things get left out because they don’t fit in with everything else on the album. And sometimes they get left out for a good reason.

Yes!

Frank just said that they were recording in Londen
And that BBC session was recorded last week (just as Later with Jools Holland)

Yeah, I think Bossanova/Trompe tour would've happened as scheduled with Paz, then Zombies would've come out maybe in June and the summer touring would've been focused on that.
billgoodman Posted - 10/14/2024 : 09:36:22
You are right, it was announced in June 2003.

Still, the tour after those dates could have been the Zombies tour

The Bossa/Trompe tour was booked in advance of Paz's departure. I think it's more likely the tour that followed would have been.
billgoodman Posted - 10/14/2024 : 04:30:24
You're so right. Somebody here (maybe you, Yarbles) mentioned the Bossa/Trompe tour was probably the first leg of the Zombies tour. If Paz wasn't sacked.

If these sessions go well, LP10 could release sooner than 2 years from now, which would make LP9-LP10 the shortest interval between post-reunion album releases. And here I already felt spoiled by the short timespan between Doggerel and Zombies. Post-reunion, we've had two 2 year intervals (IC-HC, DG-NZC) and two 3 year intervals (HC-BTE, BTE-DG). Mind you, the 3 years BTE-DG included Covid lockdowns and the HC-BTE 3 years also yielded 9 excellent bonus tracks and 1 pretty good b-side/non-album single. Do any other major bands from the 80s release at a similar pace? Maybe the Chili Peppers? Until their next album is announced, or sessions are revealed, it's too early to say. Thom Yorke has put out 3 albums since Covid and he formed Radiohead in the 80s so I suppose that's a comparable pace, although they aren't Radiohead records.

I think Zombies would've come out already this past summer perhaps, if Paz wasn't booted and they needed to rerecord her parts. I think that pushed everything back a bit, Zombies would've been out in under 2 years after Doggerel. I'm hoping now that the band is solid and moving at full speed again that album 10 will be out in less than 2 years from now.
