Who knows what Perry Farrell may know about what the Pixies are up to, but he's been caught tweeting in this story I saw on slicingupeyeballs.com. Thought I'd pass it along...
Pixies in the studio? Perry Farrell suggests they are, tweeting, ‘Pixies r recording’
Since reuniting in 2004, the Pixies have released a grand total of two new tracks — one a new song (“Bam Thwok”), the other a Warren Zevon cover (“Ain’t That Pretty At All”) — despite fans’ increasing calls for the band to not just keep touring the old stuff, but record a new album, as well. But could that finally be happening?
Last night, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell replied to a tweet from @leCultVult — who wrote, “@perryfarrell back in the day the cool kids at my high school it was all about Jane’s Addiction and the Pixies” — by writing, “Still is Pixies r recording.”
So did Farrell just reveal that the Pixies are in the studio? Several followers immediately tweeted at him for clarification, but Farrell did not respond and has not addressed it on Twitter again.
Since nearly as long as the Pixies have been back together, there’s been talk of a new album, with convention wisdom being that bassist Kim Deal, who wrote “Bam Thowk,” being the key hold-out. When Slicing Up Eyeballs interviewed guitarist Joey Santiago last fall, he said the band was talking about making an album, but that it was, “just still in the chit-chat phase.” Nevertheless, he said he wanted to record again with the Pixies: “You know, I’d like to give it a shot, just to see what we’d come out with. Certainly, we don’t have to put it out if it sucks.”
Since wrapping up their Doolittle tours last fall, the Pixies have announced no new plans.

That is Kim, it's her new look for the new album, which will be Welsh themed. The band have also changed their name to Davey, Joey, Kim & The Frank Black Mountain Ensemble. I lived in Great Malvern near there for a year, 2004 in fact to be precise. I took the train from there to London to see the Pixies on their reunion tour. It used to be really beautiful there before the north pole started melting and fucked up the weather. I rented a flat in a historic building there called Malvern House which had the most amazing views of the Severn, 30 minute walk to the Malvern peaks. I love it there, but they sacked me for refusing to use my mind to design weapons. This place I stayed in is an old hotel and used to be frequented by George Bernand Shaw who used to host plays in the nearby theatre. There was a photo of him in the doorway holding his pipe, I always regretted not taking a photo of myself standing in the doorway with my hash pipe while I was, didn't have a camera then.

That's Monmouth market in south Wales. I had a drink in the blue pub in the background a while ago (The Gate House). There were no pie-eating Pixies there that day afaik.
Yup. The Gate House, or is it the The Gate "ouse"? I'm guessing that when you drop the letter "H" it becomes Welch? So Chuckles and Joe are working on something in Wales, in a studio their old Pixies producer now calls home. This is interesting. Recently Thompson said that he could not make another Pixies album without Kim because, "the fans would stone me..". Kim said back in 2007, "There may be a new Pixies record, but I'm not going to be on it." This looks like a question for Intrade.

If you look to the right of that old dude next to Joe, you can see a hand lettered sign that reads: "Home Made Fresh Pies, 2 for £6".
"£" stands for pound, the unit of currency in the UK....although the UK is part of the EU, they retained their own currency and don't use the Euro.
Like I've stated before, I sure am curious to see this mysterious Kim photo.

Flaunting Joey's pics is nothing amazing by itself. Frank and Joey have worked together on and off since the Pixies broke up, so learning that the two are working on something together would not raise any red flags.
Seeing a picture of Kim out there with them, on the other hand, that would probably upstage global warming or something (and no matter how good a "return to form" it is, a possible Pixies album will always face unreal expectations).
Even if I'm hoping that they really are making another Pixies album, for now I'm just glad to see that Frank seems to be taking his time with this album, and not just recording it in a week. Even if it's just another BF album, it'll probably be amazing.

Then at 2:28, David posts (quite jokingly to me)" No one told me!"
Later someone says "Drummers. Always the last to know." :)
By the way, this is definitely taking place in Rockfield Studios, Wales. Same room, ceiling, monitors and console as in a picture on Rockfield website.
If Jeremy Dubs played the drums on the demos earlier this year, I wonder if David is already in Wales or will record later (maybe with Kim?)

I know there's been no mention of an album but from what I've read on the forum Frank, Joey and Kim have been in Wales of all places but no mention of Dave so far(?). I'm not on Facebook and my little head has got itself wrapped up thinking this could possibly be Dave's response when questioned about recent Pixie activity.
"No one told me!". Hmm. What came before? Dave uploads photo of himself cooking in the kitchen. Facebooker says "Green pasta's made from people, Dave."

'Lonely Cholo' came on shuffle the other day and I have to say it increased my excitement for the possible new Pixies album tenfold. It took me a while to place the song: at first I wondered if it was some 60s or 70s band like Focus but then I copped on it was the Everybody. Some great guitarwork and the keyboards are cathcy as fuck. So yes, it's not the Pixies coming back together to record that's getting me excited, but the fact that Joey and BF will be reunited to make a full album. I'd love it if they actually took some of the riffs and arrangements from Avatar and allowed BF to lay vocals over them. |

Trobi - i have heard some bits from the TV series weeds that he did and that was cool and kind of funky but its incidental background music secondary to the Visuals. The instrumental version of bullet he did with FB for the crime and punishment film ( think) is a thing of great beauty. I love the guitar work there. I remember reading as well about when Dave Philips joined the Catholics he was in awe of Joey and his playing on DW. Dave Philips seemed like an outstanding player to me in his own right.

Joey is a hugely talented guitar player and musician in his own right. Joey has been hugely influential in guitar playing and has a very distinctive sound quite difficult to replicate. The man quite simply is a God. I worship at his alter. He is certainly no one trick pony.
