From a press release for general awareness on the 18th July. They're playing Ally Pally! That's spitting distance from my house!

PIXIES ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

Pixies have just a handful of U.S. tour dates left before they head to
Europe for two weeks worth of concerts. Before they cross the pond, Pixies
will headline the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago this Saturday, July 23,
and then headline the San Diego Street Scene on Saturday, July 30. On
August 6, the band will play its first-ever all-acoustic set at the Newport
Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. As Pixies' front man Frank Black
said, "I hope that Pete Seeger doesn't go after the power supply with an
axe, for us going acoustic."

Remaining U.S. Dates, and the confirmed European Pixies tour follows:

JULY
23 Lollapalooza, Chicago, IL
30 Street Scene, San Diego, CA

AUGUST
6 Newport Folk Festival, Newport, Rhode Island
17 Paredes De Coura Festival, Paredes De Coura, Portugal
19 Pukkelpop, Hasselt, Belgium
20 Lowlands Festival, Biddinghuizen, Holland
21 Highfield Stadium, Erfurt, Germany
23 Lansdowne Road Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
25 Rock En Seine, Paris, France
26 Carling Weekender, Reading, England
27 Carling Weekender, Leeds, England
28 T on the Fringe, Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh, Scotland
30 Manchester Apollo, Manchester, England
31 Alexandra Palace, London, England

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Frank in illinoisentertainer.com this week:

"If we tour Japan and Australia in the winter, we'll basically have played everywhere that we can play on the legs of this reunion status."

Ha, the first and last Welsh show was in Cardiff in 1988. I would have gone to my home town gig if I hadn't been only three years old.

But still, the trip to London is an effort worth making.
Carl Posted - 08/02/2005 : 12:26:37
And what about Wales?! :)
fbc Posted - 08/02/2005 : 09:25:13
with a little snigger.
i mean, it is pretty funny.

i get the chance to see 3 gigs in 3 different countries (eire/eng/scot) while Australia...

...hehe!

Nothing Catholic on the horizon. But then again. What does that mean. I mean. Horizon in terms of real life - frnck blck

The Pixies Confirm UK Shows This Summer
Posted by stereoboard on July 30, 2005 at 03:12:14 PM
The Pixies have announced details of some summer shows.

The band will play Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium on August 28th as part of T On The Fringe, Manchester Apollo August 30th and London's Alexandra Palace on August 31st.

The group will also play at Carling Weekend: Reading Festival on August 26th and the Leeds Festival August 27th.

Tickets for the UK gigs are on sale now.

The group are also making plans to put together a new album, their first in over 14 years.

Frank Black told MTV: "We gotta do something else if we're going to go out there and continue to make money."

"I mean, we could keep doing it the way we're doing it, but it might ... at some point, we'll be overstaying our welcome, so to speak, as the reunited band. We have to either stop being reunited and go back to our lives or do something vital and relevant."

That something could very well be the first Pixies studio album in 14 years.

really, which gig? both gigs were on sale at about 10:45 on seektickets.com

Manchester had sold out through Alive (the company which is linked from the Apollo web site for tickets) just as I finished placing my order at 9.08 am. I checked out all the other online sites just afterwards out of curiosity, and only rear circle seats were left, if any at all. Perhaps they kept some back, though God knows why.

I see some have already found their way on to eBay, e.g.:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16067&item=6550007665&rd=1&ssPageName=WD4V

How can you sell something you don't actually possess at the moment?
PixieSteve Posted - 07/30/2005 : 07:40:56
which gig would you come to kitten?

Oh let it linger
starmekitten Posted - 07/30/2005 : 07:39:26
Mike, I honestly don't know when I could pay you back, how much are the tickets?

If you invite people who all have the same blood type to a party, but you don't tell them, they'll talk about something else
