Posted - 08/20/2004 : 12:26:37 Ok, so after I let everyone I know download these I next thought of everyone at frankblack.net and how much people would love to see these.
I bought a videocard and am in the process of making digital copies of tons of rare stuff I have on video. The first and obviously most important thing was to make digital copies of my rare pixies tv appearances that I have on nth generation tapes. The quality might look shitty and trust me the tapes don't look any better but it's better than nothing. I only have have 4 clips up so far but I will but up more soon. Please down't stream them, download them so you don't have to go to my site every time you want to watch them.
Enjoy!

Posted - 06/11/2005 : 22:19:07 after watching the trompe clip, id be really pissed if i was dave or kim, not getting to play their own instruments. that whole ten person thing is bullshit, i cant blame them for having some hostility at that time. but imagine if you saw them for the first time on letterman, youd probably be saying "holy shit, do they need that many people in the band?"

Posted - 06/11/2005 : 07:40:28 I put up quite a few more things from a torrent that was linked from the pixies dvd torrent alert thread. There's 120 minutes from 1991, the first letterman appearance, and both Dennis Miller appearances.

Posted - 01/28/2005 : 09:03:42 If you're talking about the letterman one that's pretty good quality so it must be the program. In terms of the other files it's unfortunately the file. The quality of the originals that I have aren't the greatest in the first place. Also I had to make them in fairly low quality to have enough bandwith to host them. If I put them up with really good quality the file size would be 10 times bigger and my site would get shut down because of the number of people downloading. I'm already using half my bandwith per month and I have more stuff that I want to put up.

Posted - 10/08/2004 : 15:22:57 great job matt, especially like the Word stuff - the height of late night cool in it's day! but jeez did you see that guy dancing with his back to the band! you should get someone to do some editing to black him out - you know, like they did in music videos that were a bit too raunchy, he's far too offensive for public consumption!!!! |

What an arrogant ass. Umm, we're in the band, I think I know what kind of music it is/isn't.
Death Metal bands are easily characterized by their ultra-cheesy/lame names: Doom Circus, Satan's Pinions, Hate Mongers R Us, etc...
Generally amelodic screaming, double kick, very heavy, and scarcely music at all other than a droning kick/snare and a distorted guitar chord.
"When 5000 posts you reach / Look as good you will not, hmmm?"
An important facet to death metal, in my experience of it, is the characteristc trying-to-sound-like-a-growling-monster unintelligible vocal thing. Like when Metallica (not death metal per se) guy sings "take my hand" in the Enter Sandman song, he really sings it "tay my heeul," which is reminiscent of death metal phrasing. To me the vocals resemble what it would be like if a small child, in trying to growl as their imagination tells them a lion would, could use their voice to sing rapidly about eating people's entrails.
It frankly sounds quite gay.

Personally, I have the Dennis Miller appearances. Though the quality is uber-shitty. I know somebody else on the forum has it as well. They did Planet Of Sound, Head On, and Bird Dream, if I'm not mistaken. If nobody else has a better quality version they can find for it, I'll try to get mine onto a computer. Something is better than nothing. Eh?
Crouton Futon wasn't able to find his tape so if you're up for it we could work something out where you can mail me the tape , I'll capture it and mail it back to you. If you're worried about my credibility then just check the Winnipeg ticket trading thread.
And Tomq, yes, I'm polish. Sorry I didn't translate for everyone else :)
Thanks for the continued thanks guys. I'm still planning on putting up that concert but it's time consuming to encode so it might be a while. I think the show is form the UK and it was professionally shot but again the quality isn't the greatest.

Posted - 09/12/2004 : 14:33:26 Polish language, of course. Mattb, are you Polish? Broszkowski is a Slav surname.
"Stary, nasza sprzataczka zna Pixies" is a sentence used by a music reviewer and it means "Man, even our cleaner knows Pixies". Mattb said that he knew Pixies 15 years ago in Poland during his holiday. He heard them on the radio there. Only there, because in Canadian radio Pixies song aren't played.
I think you should also know that it wasn't easy for me to get Pixies DVD in Poland. I was waiting for it about 45 days...
