Glad you enjoyed it! They really were a great band. Wish I could have seen them live back in the day. I always thought they sounded like a more eerie, low-fi version of Husker Du.
The guitar player and main songwriter of my first band back in high school (circa 1983-1986) was a real SST nut and had a lot of that label's lesser known LPs, including those by Angst. Looking back I think a good many of the chord progressions and vocal styles he contributed to the group were heavily influenced by that group. At the time I was too young and caught up in the moment to even notice things like that...

Would love to see them tour with Calexico. Not only would they be a great band to see open for Pixies on their own merit, Pixies could borrow their mariachi players to spice up Motorway to Roswell and Caribou. |
