Posted - 09/21/2013 : 10:34:39 I've been listening to Pixies regularly again for the first time in ages, prompted by the new music I suppose. I'm falling in love with them all over again, hearing new things. I don't know why, but it all sounds fresh and thrilling - as if I'm hearing those albums for the first time.
I played Bossanova today. It was my least favourite, I was disappointed with it in 1990 because it sounded too shiny and plastic to me at the time and I always thought 'side 2' tailed off in quality. Today, it seemed much more abrasive than I remembered, and I found myself loving tracks that didn't do much for me back in the day (eg Stormy Weather, Down To The Well, Havalina).
Anyway, to the point. That bit in Rock Music - at 1.33 - I can't tell what word (BF?) is saying, but it always made me jump. I always thought someone in the room was trying to get my attention, shouting in my ear (particularly startling if wearing 'phones). I must've listened to Rock Music hundreds of time over the years but '1.33' gets me every time, and it did again today.
Is it just me?

Posted - 09/22/2013 : 09:02:09 One of my favorites as well. I love how the song perfectly sums up the title; the pure joy of rock music, I don't know what he's singing but man it sounds so good. That intro...whoa. What a great frickkin' song. |

I have a live version (Columbia, MO 2004) where he says "here's a message for ya, I'm one happy prick" pretty clearly.
Thanks, I will listen out for it on Friday |

Posted - 09/21/2013 : 13:08:18 It gets me as well. It sounds like a monster moaning in the corner of the room. Reminds me of the end of Something Against You (I've never understood what he says there either) |

Posted - 09/21/2013 : 12:41:19 lordy, i love this song. damn.
yeah, i know that part, but like the rest of the vocals it's completely unintelligible. who the fuck knows? it's right after that "break," so he's probably addressing the hoards of people lying on the floor from having their guts rocked out. "get up. quit your wailing and gnashing of teeth. it's not over yet."
