New 4-Track Breeders EP Goes From "Fate To Fatal"
It started off with one song and ended with a four track EP named for it. The Breeders, the baby of Pixies bassist Kim Deal and twin sis Kelley, recorded "Fate and Fatal" at Fortress studios in London. It didn't stop there. They eventually took the project to Kim's basement where she also invited Screaming Trees/Queens of the Stone Age/Gutter Twins guitarist/vocalist Mark Lanegan over for a sing session, and laid down the EP's second track "The Last Time." It didn't stop there. Another basement track followed - "Pinnacle Hollow" - made on a 4-track tape. And it's all topped off with a cover of Bob Marley and the Wailers' "Chances Are" recorded at producer Steve Albini's Chicago studio.
"It seems that now," Kim said in a statement, "more than at any other time in the past, we could put the music out ourselves - hand-screen some cool artwork ourselves, sell the EPs at our shows and on our website, as well as get them to traditional record stores and other online outlets."
The Fate to Fatal EP will be self-released and out April 21st along with 1000 vinyl. A video for "Fate To Fatal" featuring the Breeders amidst a roller derby game is in post-production.
all I can say with all the grand duchy/pixies/breeders news is WOW

Yellow Springs News - BLOG: Catching up with Sport Fishing USA.
Sport Fishing USA is angling for its share of the Yellow Springs music scene.
The local rock trio has a bluegrass bassist, a drummer named David Bryne (no relation to the Talking Heads) and a front man with the hair of Jim Morrison and, literally, the guitar of Kim Deal of Pixies and Breeders fame...
...Their sound takes notes from Moore’s father, Chris, a local roofer and jazz cornettist who poured on 20s and 30s jazz tunes in their childhood, the 60s and 70s rock they played for themselves as teens and the 80s do-it-yourself rock they must have absorbed from the zeitgeist and Bryne’s father, an 80s punk rocker whose band toured with Black Flag (and obtained Deal’s guitar when it was left at a party). Brendan Moore, who plays bluegrass versions of Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin songs with his other band Blue Moon Soup, adds that quintessential southern Ohio bluegrass sound. |

also, regarding the breakdown, i recently found an orange version on ebay. where does this fit in? the auction description says it's numbered 114, but i thought the coloured ones were numbered higher than 895. on top of that, this doesn't look anything like the other colour experiments, because those all have red text. maybe someone got a regular black one and added the orange themselves, in order to get more money for it. OMG!
i guess i answered my own question here.

there are two copies on ebay, but they're asking $20 and $30, instead of $10... i guess i'll have to keep my eyes open.
