Sounds - Runner up Album of the Year - - Doolittle - 1989 Melody Maker - Runner up Album of the Year - Doolittle - 1989
Anyone know which album was 'album of the year' according to those mags?

I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place
Let's try this: mine came up fine earlier, and has since disintegrated (geddit?).

Disintegration wasn't very good except for Lullaby.

Making a statment like that should be illegal, but I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion. Unfortunatley.
[/quote]No, should definitely be illegal. I find Lullaby to be the least interesting moment on the album, and it's still a classic song.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Posted - 02/12/2007 : 16:08:24 The Stone Roses self titled album was pretty good. Kind of hard to compare it to Doolittle, they are completely different musically. |

Posted - 02/12/2007 : 06:44:19 from my (admittedly shoddy) memory, there were two best album charts in melody maker each year - one voted by readers and one voted by critics - and doolittle won the readers poll (but not the critics poll) in 1989 ... conversely, I think surfer rosa won the critics poll but not the readers poll in 1988, but I seem to remember the write up being a bit begrudging about it (reference to it being most critics' 2nd choice) |
