Posted - 05/29/2006 : 15:56:09 I admit I haven't done a thorough site search, but having clicked through the forums over the last few months, and having stumbled upon no specific queries about it, I have to ask:
Is loudQUIETloud actually going to come out on DVD? Not all of us can get to the few arthouse cinemas in the US of A that appear to be the only outlets available so far.

Posted - 09/13/2006 : 02:42:21 Was just forwarded this press release:
loudQUIETloud: A FILM ABOUT THE PIXIESDIRECTED BY STEVEN CANTOR & MATTHEW GALKINFeaturing: Charles Thompson (guitar/vocals), Kim Deal (bass/vocals), Joey Santiago (guitar) and David Lovering (drums)Original Score: Daniel Lanois UK DVD release: 6th November 06 After its celebrated European premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival on 22nd & 25th August, the UK DVD release is 6th November. In the history of modern American music there were few bands like the Pixies. Theirs was an unparalleled musical path, influencing countless others despite modest financial success. In 1992, their chief songwriter and vocalist Black Francis announced his intention to quit via a blunt facsimile. That it seemed, was that. Then to the amazement of everyone, the Pixies reunited in 2004. loudQUIETloud is the story of this unforeseen plot twist - a deeply compelling portrait of four band members and their difficult, tense and ultimately triumphant return. The Pixies, as it turns out, are one of rock music’s great bands.

Posted - 09/12/2006 : 07:34:09 Wow, thanks a lot for the heads up, Homers! I was hoping it'd get a showing over here. I'll definitely be going to this. The IFI is a nice little place in Temple Bar with a book/DVD store bar, and coffee shop.
Just checked it out on the IFI site, don't know if the dates in the NME story are wrong or they're additional screenings (they probably are), but apparently it's being shown as part of the Stranger Than Fiction season at 10:00 PM on Friday the 29th of September:

LOUDQUIETLOUD: THE PIXIES
The Pixies’ influence on modern rock music is legendary: Kurt Cobain gave voice to the feelings of many musicians, when he admitted to ‘ripping off’ their sound for Nirvana. Their 2004 reformation did nothing to diminish their standing. Playing together for the first time since their conspicuously acrimonious break-up, 11 years earlier, their US tour drew heated critical praise, and sold out arenas across the country. Filmmakers Cantor & Galkin tagged along for the ride, and found the four members older, heavier, and still attempting to come to terms with their legacy - and each other in this intimate, affectionate profile. But these backstage intrigues are blown away by the white-hot intensity of their performances: featuring all their hits, this is a concert movie par excellence, a fitting testament to one of the greatest bands of all time.
2006, 85 mins USA Director: S. Cantor & M. Galkin
Screening Times
10.00 Friday 29 September

Posted - 06/05/2006 : 08:58:49 Well theres a couple along there so it could be. The Rock's on the same road, up from the Community centre, The Shand (used to be called The Jimmy Shand) is next to the roundabout at the top of Ninewells Avenue.

Posted - 06/04/2006 : 17:44:15 I'm in Eden Street, off the Arbroath Road. Is the Shand the one overlooking Ninewells? Only been there once, on a work's night out (a long time ago)...

I'd guess that there is a chance it'd be on at the Galway Film Fleadh/Festival (whatever it's called) If i was to give a guess on the dvd release, i'd say(hope) late summer.
Try keeping an eye out on: http://www.loudquietloud.com/ for the latest screenings.

I'll probably not go anyway because of the cost etc. Plus, trains are too unreliable.

I might try to make it up to Edinburgh myself but it seems unlikely, with my laziness and all...
