Posted - 06/09/2005 : 22:44:20 I can't agree with mainly mid west top ten. Cleve. does rock though. Hall of Fame is pretty cool.
note- They played alternate versions of top ten songs after the studio versions:
Caribou recorded live in NY, 12/15/ i think they said 2002 but am not sure of year.
Debaser live from Death to the Pixies.
HCYM, acoustic version from Purple Tape.
Cactus by Frank Black Francis, sounded like his Revolution #9.
WIMM, live / semi-acoustic.
What are your ten favourite Pixies songs? here goes
<it's ed-u-ca-tion-allllllll!!!>: In no particular order: Alec may be sentimental #1
Break My Body
U Mass. sure he doesn't regret dropping out , west side of the east wood
Alec Eiffel
Bone Machine
WIMM
I Bleed
Ed Is Dead
Dig For Fire
Head On, the rhythm guitar did it, nice cover
Debaser
runner ups:
Dance the Manta Ray
Mr Grieves
D = r * t, I had a vision

Posted - 06/09/2005 : 22:09:45 I heard the final hour where they counted down their top ten requested songs today. For what it's worth: 1. Head On 2. Velouria 3. Where is My Mind? 4. Cactus 5. Here Comes Your Man 6. Bad Wicked World 7. Winterlong 8. Debaser 9. Divine Hammer 10. Caribou
Interesting list. I'll be tuning in again for the June 30th Tom Petty marathon. That sounds great. Not as great as this, but pretty damn good all the same.

Posted - 06/09/2005 : 19:58:58 Yeah, I'd listen to the radio if they did this. It's been playing in my hotel room ever since I got back from work.

Posted - 06/09/2005 : 19:44:30 I got home from work and turned this on about 40 minutes ago. I heard (in this order): Build High, Head On, Blown Away, Hey (featuring some very odd censoring of the word 'whore'), Dig For Fire, Broken Face (Purple Tape version), Robert Onion, Here Comes Your Man, Planet of Sound, Brick is Red, Santo, Freedom Rock, His Kingly Cave, and I Burn Today!
These songs sound really good played back to back like this. I wonder whether the radio industry will see commercial viability in an all-Pixies 24-hour radio format. There should at least be an all Pixies satellite radio channel. And an all X channel too. They'd be bigger than Air America! |
