Posted - 03/17/2005 : 18:32:58 Ugh. My wife watches the show and had it on in the other room when all of a sudden I heard "Debaser." I couldn't believe it. Guess they've really made it now, huh? On The O.C., baby--the heart of the American zeitgeist. Congrats to the Pixies. I hope they cashed a big check! They also played The Scorpions "Rock You Like a Hurricane" too. |

Oh, sorry. That's an unfair stereotype, isn't it? I should have saved that for the "say something offensive preceded by a disclaimer" thread. <g>

Posted - 05/18/2005 : 10:24:45 not really surprised. regarding American TV shows, europe usually lags behind in airing. ireland is light years ahead of the US on other things though.

Posted - 05/13/2005 : 18:43:56 That's pretty cool for him. By the way, since this is an O.C related thread, I heard recently that George Lucas is going to make a guest apperance at some stage! |

Posted - 05/13/2005 : 10:21:56 i agree. the Garuth on the American version is terrible. all things considered, the American Office is funny. obviously doesn't come close to the BBC version. i try not to compare them b/c then i'll get dissapointed.

Posted - 05/01/2005 : 15:09:56 I am now a regular viewer of the American version of The Office. Originally I had feared they would just reshoot the scripts from the original series, but it's not like that.
IMO the only character who is truly lacking compared to the Brit show is Dwight, Gareth Keenan's counterpart.
Now that I'm looking forward to it each week, the first season is over.

Interesting point about the show: the band wrote the theme tune, sing the theme tune...
If you find this funny you are very, very cool

KIKI is the nickname for Seth's mom/Sandy's wife. Caleb, her dad, calls her that.
Did anyone see NBCs version of The Office last night?? the guy who is supposed to mirror the BBCs "Garuth" is terrible. overall, i didn't think it was that bad all things considered.

No shit - they even made their own shirts that they wear on whatever day the show is on. Apparently, from the announcements, you have to sign-up and then have an "interview" of sorts to see if you know enough about the show to join. I really hope that the Pixies don't wind up on an O.C. soundtrack.
Fucking tools.

Posted - 03/22/2005 : 11:53:50 it's ok for people to like the OC. i bet half the people that claim they don't like it have probably never seen an episode. they just feel that the show is somehow an assault on their individual/non-mainstream/elitist/indie personality. that's crap.
Marisa is hot. not saying the show is award-winning, but it is entertaining. take it for what its worth. now, if we are talking The Bachelorette.....then yeah, that's a bunch of garbage.

Posted - 03/22/2005 : 05:18:42 I'll admit that I watch the OC too. One of life's guilty pleasures I guess. It's nice to see what a real American household is like ;)
They do play good music on the show, have to give them credit for that.

Posted - 03/21/2005 : 18:27:23 Never watched the OC... but I think it's cool that the Pixies were on there. It keeps the younger generation interested, and even maybe exposed to the fist time to the best band ever.... it's just like spreading the word to the 20 and under crowd. :)
Now if we could only get them on 24. :) |

Posted - 03/19/2005 : 20:24:32 Sorry to go off topic here. I had to think for some time, mosleyk, to figure out how long we've gone without TV. Ten years, I think? Even when we had it, we watched very little. Literally one show a week (ER). There is nothing weirder than seeing a TV commercial for the first time in three or four years. It's totally bizarre...and insulting.

Posted - 03/19/2005 : 16:40:36 i think the OC is a great show - me and my wife watch it religously! it's just so goddam good. apparently the creator/producer of the show is a big indie/alternative music fan and uses said music to extend it's audience to people who normally wouldn't ever hear it. gotta be good.
