Saludos y un abrazo
P.D.: Always I have a big doubt in the lyrics of Rock Music...what does it mean "encatuse"...(may be you want say "me conoce"?)
hmmm...that might be some special puerto rican word. i can't remember. i think it means "don't mess with me" or something like that. as i recall it was kind of a local"spanglish" word; or it could be that i just mangled the language. i've done a lot of that!

Posted - 01/03/2007 : 04:31:53 Just on Chevere, apparently it is a corruption of 'Chevrolet' because if you had a Chevvy in Venezuela you were really cool.

Posted - 01/02/2007 : 16:07:27 (bump!) I was talking to a Venezuelan guy on the rig the other day, we were talking about the word 'Chevere' which is Venezuelan Spanish for "Cool". Anyway, I thought I would get him to work out this whole 'Hey you no se encatuse' / 'Hey you no se me conoce' thing.
Turns out there is a slang Caribbean Spanish word 'enGatuse' (from the verb engatusar), which means 'to be involved in strange or bad things'. So the lyrics are:
Hey you no me engatuse
This means 'hey you, don't involve me in wierd shit'
But, I think FB does sing 'Hey you know me, me conoce' in some of the verses, which is 'Hey you know me, and I know you' (I think).
Engatuse is apparently not used in other Spanish speaking places, just the Caribean, which would make sense with the Puerto Rican connection.

Posted - 04/01/2005 : 14:54:14 Yes, what's widely unknown is that this song was actually written by Michael Jackson, but he was uncredited. If you look up the songwriting credits at the ASCAP site, it's credited to "John Jay Smith."

Encanta: Espanol for "to enchant" Chanteuse: French for "songstress" Encantuse: Franklish (or obscure slang? We need our Romance-language friends' help!)for "enchanting songstress," i.e. "siren."
Actually, I always thought he was screaming "Hey you know me/And I do say..."

I read somewhere once Frank opened with this at a gig or say a festival for the mighty Pixies in front of a few thousand people. He was so nervous about screaming so hard in front of such numbers he played with his back to the crowd.
Maybe this song doesn't do much to help the longevity of his vocal chords. Quite understandable really.
hm maybe also possibly he doesnt want to give the wrong impression, if the first pixies songs you ever head was rock music, youd probably think they are some kind of death metal band..
