I want to ask u fellas - whats the most underated FB song? this includes both his solo stuff and the catholics stuff.
I reckon the most underated is - Western Star. a truely great song. in fact all of the Pistolero album is underated.

avid, do you realize you always double post? mouse happy, are we?

anyway,
"i think i'm starting to lose it" is underrated. that song rocks me.

also, not that it's underrated, but "i want rock'n'roll" is seriously the most rocking song i've ever heard. it's relentless. AWESOME.

LE CIGAR VOLANTE : super under-rated! I believe it is one of FB's top five ever songs he's written. Although it doesn't have a hugely high profile, being on ssmvgd & dog in the sand jap version only..

I agree with Milo, Places is a great song

Hmmm..

I've always loved the song "In Heaven". I just dig it.

klikger Posted - 09/07/2004 : 11:25:47
All of his songs are underrated by casual music fans. But by fanatics like us, I don't know which songs are underrated. 21 Reasons is probably underrated, right? I love that song.
soundofataris Posted - 09/04/2004 : 19:29:40
There's some real winners that you don't always hear people crow about. Some of my favorites are :

Heloise-Every once and awhile I love this tune

So Hard To Make Things Out-cool tempo shifts

Just A Little-Frank's at his best when he's covering old songs from the 50's and 60's. let me add to this Handyman, Breathless, Duke of Earl, and anything by the Kinks

The Jacques Tati-It makes me real happy

When Will Happiness Find Me Again?-ironically, or maybe coincidentially, this song also makes me happy.

Kerry in a landslide!

I love the whispering weeds, what a lovely calypso-ish style! I,d like to hear Frank do more stuff like that.
Thomas Posted - 09/03/2004 : 18:39:50
Fields of Marigold, I believe, is very underated. I think it was the first song kicked out in DW survivor. Man was I bitter, but I've gotten over it. Lots of meds.

"Our Love is Rice and Beans and Horses Lard"
FrankfanL Posted - 09/03/2004 : 13:09:51
Adda Lee is one of my favorites !
Adam Posted - 09/03/2004 : 06:52:51
Adda Lee. I forget about this one until I throw FB back into rotation. It rocks.

Free the Heel!
Mad Lucas Posted - 09/03/2004 : 06:43:31
I'd have to agree with Places Named After Numbers. I love the chorus!!
ALSO, I think Everytime I Go Around Here is underrated in my books. I never put it as anywhere near my favourite songs, but I love it!

I will..... I wish y'all would quit nagging! I'm ***trying*** to save, I can't just blow all my money on CD's.... ok I can and I will, just quit nagging!

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

"Bone Machine" opens with the chorus?

Cattle in Korea / They can really moo.
toeknee Posted - 08/26/2004 : 12:39:55
I would say Baby, that's Art too. It's like Bone Machine in that it opens with the chorus, which I find very effective. Why did it stay a b-side?

toeknee.

Places named After Numbers. Very atmospheric, love the intro and the brooding vocals.

Amnesia - Headache B-side.

Yeah, Devil Workshop's is pretty much wholly underrated. Heloise, Wiskey in Your Shoes, Fields of Marigold are all excellent. Humboldt County Massacre (the B-side not the SSMVGD version) explodes with raw anger but not many people make something of it. And Dirty Old Town must be the most underrated song by FB himself since he hasn't even recorded it. I love it when he wispers the last lines.
Hanoi333 Posted - 08/10/2004 : 05:15:13
Actually I do not see often mentioned any song from the CD The devils workshop. For example I like very much "The Scene", especially the starting chords are quite Rocky!, I like the whole song. You should turn up the volume with this song!!
Ford Prefect Posted - 08/04/2004 : 22:46:59
Tossed. I don't think it's ever been mentioned, but this song rocks so hard. Gotta love the horn-driven "chorus."

St. Francis Dam Disaster. It's one of my favourites. But is it underrated? I don't know.

...underrated by even Frank himself

Man of Steel...quite an ignored song. but so so powerful. Makes my chest ache sometimes (in a good way, not a heart-attack)

Cult of Ray, Fazer Eyes, Tiny Heart...definitely underrated

Valley of our hope and Announcement too
basically, pretty much every single one that was brought up.

I think So Hard to Make Things Out gets a bad rap too...but its one of the best on Pistolero.
i can think of more....but not right now.
BrendanT Posted - 07/30/2004 : 06:14:13
Valley of our hope and Announcement are very underated. Not even on any albums. At the end of the world is another!

Heehee, I got it..

I love 'Don't Ya Rile Em' from the debut. In fact, I think I love the debut more consistently than any others. The tune 'The Cult Of Ray' would be another, that has got some awesome riffs and lyrics. "ARE YOU FEELIN' ROLE STRAIN??"
