Posted - 03/01/2004 : 09:34:39 we all know, that frank can do incredible things with his voice, and the way he pronounces some words is a highlight of many songs (like "you make me feel so TIRED" in robert onion), but on which songs do you think he does a really good singing (in terms of "classic beautiful")?
i would go for "fu manchu" - also, there is such a nice use of words again (now you are a real GO-GETTER). also, "havalina" comes to my mind. "stupid me" of course, too.

And MY FAVORITE KISS displays a very soft and colorful facet of his voice.

Posted - 11/30/2004 : 16:53:58 Recently I've been enjoying some of his softer tracks, like St. Francis and My Favourite Kiss. songs where he's barely singing just talking.
Then I hear Snake Oil.
"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!"
Maybe when Frank pushes his vocal chords to almost snap I like him too. Yeah, I do. |

Posted - 03/13/2004 : 09:32:57 Ramona is great too. "...the speed we're travel--ling--inggg..." This thread actually brings to mind the one time I actually listened to Frank Black with my mom in her car since I didn't have a CD player in mine(early 90's). She gave me a lot of shit about how his voice sucked (she's a fan of the other Frank...Sinatra) Oh well. |

AND IT'D BE DOWNRIGHT INSANITY not to recognise "Ten Percenter", imo.
